System Administrator
*To be considered for this role, candidates must reside within reasonable commuting distance to Bloomington, IL
Position Summary
The System Administrator is responsible for administering, optimizing, and securing the organization’s internal computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security of business-critical applications. This highly collaborative role contributes to the planning, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures that support reliable system provisioning and maintenance in alignment with organization’s objectives, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Duties
-Strategy & Planning:
Develops and implements long-term strategic plans to acquire and utilize cost-effective information processing and communication technologies.
Collaborates with IT leadership to ensure work aligns with and supports the organization’s overall IT Strategy.
Supports capacity planning and the development of long-range systems and software strategies.
Creates, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and training plans related to system administration and project management.
-Acquisition & Deployment:
Deploys and manages servers, storage systems, backup solutions, encryption tools, and host-based security systems.
Evaluates and recommends hardware and software solutions for approved projects. Assists with the planning and deployment of IT initiatives approved by the IT Management team.
Coordinates with network, application, and database functions to implement desktop and server systems using industry best practices.
-Operational Management:
Administers and maintains server systems; manages user accounts, permissions, and access controls; and ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise data in compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
Monitors, analyzes, and reports on system, server, application, network, and device performance to support data-driven decision-making and operational planning.
Performs system administration and operational tasks including security audits, asset management, technical documentation, routine backups, restore testing, and disaster recovery coordination.
Proactively identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware and software issues; recommends and implements system upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and enhancements.
Researches emerging technologies and collaborates with vendors, contractors, and service providers, including participation in product evaluations and negotiations.
Supports application development teams across project lifecycles, provides guidance to team members as needed, and applies project management best practices to manage change and system improvements.

Network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows Server and VMware ESXi.
Enterprise application support, including VMware Horizon VDI and ESRI ArcGIS.
Systems software, protocols, and standards such as Windows Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Azure services.
LAN administration.
Hardware and software troubleshooting.
Data management and system documentation.
Organizational goals, objectives, and applicable data privacy laws.
ITIL principles and experience working in an ITIL-based environment.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of ten (10) years of related professional experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Certifications:
COBIT 5 Foundation
ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office or virtual environment and involves frequent interaction
with organization staff. Physical requirements include sitting or standing for extended periods,
operating standard computer equipment, occasional lifting of moderately heavy objects (such as
computers and peripherals), inspecting cables, and verbal communication. On-call availability,
occasional evening or weekend work, travel, and operation of a company vehicle may be required.
