Lead Cook
The role of Lead Cook at JBCE is to execute high-level food production with consistency, speed, and precision while being a strong, steady presence in the kitchen and at events. This position works alongside the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, and Event Chefs to ensure that all food leaving the kitchen meets JBCE standards.
This is a hands-on cooking role. The ideal candidate leads by example on the line, maintains focus under pressure, and helps set the tone for the team through professionalism, urgency, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
Execute all menu items to JBCE standards of quality, consistency, and presentation
Lead by example during prep and service, maintaining strong kitchen presence and pace
Support event execution both in the commissary and at off-site locations
Assist in organizing and executing prep lists provided by chefs
Ensure proper setup, execution, and breakdown of kitchen stations
Maintain clean, organized, and efficient workspaces at all times
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures
Communicate clearly with chefs and team members during service
Step into a leadership role on the line when needed to keep service flowing smoothly
Assist with loading, transporting, and setting up food for off-site events
Qualifications
Strong cooking fundamentals and knife skills
Experience in high-volume kitchens, catering, or events preferred
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure
Strong sense of urgency, organization, and attention to detail
Positive attitude and team-first mentality
Comfortable working long, flexible hours including nights and weekends
Reliable transportation for off-site events is a plus
