Waste Treatment Asst. Technician

General Responsibilities:Responsible for supporting operations of Wastewater Pretreatment System (WWTS). The candidate must be able to accurately follow written procedures, written and verbal instructions, make-up required chemistry for the WWTS and all Plating and Metal Finishing solutions.Shifts:1st 5:30 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - FridayDuties:Assist in operating Waste Water Pre-Treatment System (WI3117)Maintain WWTS chemistryCalibrate all WWTS probes and metersMaintain and dehydrate F006 sludgePerform batch chemical treatments as necessaryMaintain all WWTS and Plating pumps and equipmentMaintain daily WWTS recordsComplete EO and Dept 15 Plating PM's as assignedAssist with inventory, requisition, receipt, deliveries and storage of all chemicalsReady wastes for shipments, including Age Controlled Lab PacksProvide Chemical support to GWL facilitiesMember of HAZMAT TeamMember of Emergency Response Team ESRP 21.01.02Assist to maintain chemical storage and safety (Chemical Storage Procedure)Refill solvent containers as needed/dailyConduct periodic RCRA Inspections including used batteries and aerosol can recycling and maintenanceQualifications:Successful candidate must be a team-oriented person with good communication skills and must be able to excel at:Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to communicate verbally, read and write in EnglishShow high level of job-related knowledge within 6 months in positionAccurately interpret WWTS procedures and work instructionsProvide feedback on issues and changesIs dependable and follows set attendance policiesBe aware of surrounding area to maintain safe and organized environmentWork in team setting to complete multiple task and goals as assignedShows good communication, listening and teamwork within Plating and all GW Lisk departmentsWillingness and ability to learnStrong attention to detailMust be able to stand, walk on uneven surfaces, bend, twist, reach overhead and climb stairsWillingness to work in a production work environment which requires supplied chemical resistant work clothes and personal protective equipment.Preferred Skills:Some chemistry backgroundStrong mechanical aptitudeStrong math skillsGood organizational skillsTow Motor Operator or willing to obtain within 30 days of hireExperience in a manufacturing environment or 2-3 years of Waste Treatment experiencePhysical Demands:Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. and move 500 lbs. with cart and/or assisting equipmentAbility to wear company supplied required work uniforms, safety glasses, gloves, apron and other PPE as required or directedAbility to wear a respirator and obtain medical clearance for respirator use.Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour based on experienceGW Lisk is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
