As an Associate Engineer, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of municipal engineering disciplines including transportation, water and wastewater, and infrastructure while learning how projects move from planning and review through construction and completion.

Responsibilities
Municipal Review & Technical Analysis
Review site plans, subdivision and land development applications, and capital improvement projects for compliance with municipal ordinances, standards, and regulations
Support planning board and zoning board reviews by preparing technical comments and reports
Communicate clearly and professionally with boards, applicants, inspectors, and internal team members
Engineering & Design Exposure
Assist with design work on municipal infrastructure projects such as roadway improvements, including preparation of plans and specifications
Perform basic engineering calculations and analysis under the guidance of senior engineers
Construction Administration
Support construction‑phase activities, including coordination with inspectors and review of field conditions
Gain exposure to how projects are implemented and resolved in real‑world conditions
Team Collaboration & Development
Work closely with experienced engineers (including recently licensed PEs) who provide day‑to‑day guidance and mentorship
Participate in CME’s peer mentor program and professional development initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification, or scheduled to take the EIT exam
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort participating in public meetings
Interest in and commitment to municipal engineering work
Willingness to work from and commit to the Neptune/Tinton Falls, NJ office
Preferred Qualifications
Internship or co‑op experience in civil or municipal engineering
Familiarity with municipal infrastructure, transportation, or water/wastewater projects
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar engineering software
