What You'll DoIn this role you will have the opportunity to work on the Infrastructure Engineering team to develop our world-class offering of Teradata hybrid-first platform that seamlessly integrates Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW) with AI and analytics capabilities into a unified Lakehouse architecture. This platform empowers enterprises to manage traditional EDW, data analytics, and advanced AI workloads all within a single environment. The core focus is on delivering customer value through modular workload flexibility, scalability, and the unification of EDW with AI and analytics workloads, along with flexible hybrid deployment options.Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for all virtualization environmentsProvide strategic planning on product direction, design, and developmentEvaluate, improve, and maintain information security throughout the virtualized infrastructureTake leading position in development of PoC, new feature implementationDrive virtualization best practices across customer enterpriseOptimize network hardware and software to enable virtualization integrationDetect early signals of at-risk features and applications on our platform productWork with our DevOps team to build and develop test tools and automationCoordinate cross-functional processes to deliver customer needsCollaborate closely with other organizations outside of Infrastructure Engineering to address new Teradata features and applicationsPerform root cause analysis of customer reported issuesContribute to product documentation and manualsWho You'll Work WithThis position is for a Senior Staff Virtualization SME for our Platform Infrastructure team. Our team is composed of engineers working on developing the latest on-premises solution leveraging the most current virtualization technology (e.g., KVM, VMware), while driving to provide the highest performance on these newest offerings.What Makes You a Qualified CandidateExpert knowledge of virtualization technology including hypervisors and network virtualizationExpert knowledge of KVM and HarvesterExpert knowledge of vSphere, vSan, vMotion, vCenter and/or vRaExpert knowledge of best practice VMware deployment techniquesKnowledge of VMware alternatives (KVM/Nutanix, RedHat/OpenShift)Solid knowledge in automating VMware environment using any of the following language PowerCLI, python, goHas experience using Infrastructure as Code like Terraform to deploy VMware componentsHas experience debugging issues within vSphere cluster including but not limited to pktcap-uw, esxtop and esxcliExpert knowledge of Deploying Virtualization Solutions in an Enterprise environmentExpert knowledge of L2 and L3 network protocolsStrong understanding of cloud technologies, such as AWS, Azure, and GCPKnowledge of programming/scripting languages, such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScriptVMware Certified Advanced ProfessionalMinimum Education and Residency RequirementsBachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 10+ years of work experienceMasters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline with 6+ years of work experiencePhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline with 3+ years of work experience requirementWhat You'll BringBroad understanding of technology and systems while investigating and solving complex problemsConsolidate or expand reports to communicate effectively to the appropriate audience (e.g., Executives, customers, team members)Demonstrate excellent analytical and judgement skills using factual and qualitative information from multiple sourcesOpenness to learn new things and work in a collaborative team environmentDelivers commitments on time with highest quality.
