Engineering Technician

The Engineering Technician is responsible for building, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modifying development prototypes and production components, parts, equipment, and systems by applying principles and theories of engineering, mathematics, testing and physics.Key Areas Of ResponsibilityCircuit troubleshooting and data collection to include power supply, analog and digital circuits to the component level.Prototype builds (mechanical assembly, PCB assembly and modifications).Collaborate with physicists and other departments in research efforts in support of SNCPerform administrative duties such as calibration testing, monitoring lab equipment, and conducting maintenance of lab equipment.Conduct and record results of hardware and software testsAssist Manufacturing in troubleshooting, rework and repairAssist in transfer to Manufacturing of new productsKnowledge, Skills & ExperienceRead and follow electronic schematics, PCB layout drawings, identify components, and have excellent knowledge of electronic principles and practices.Excellent troubleshooting skills – at system, board and component level, perform failure analysis.Strong surface mount technology (SMT) soldering and rework skills including fine pitch and leadless packageExcellent mechanical assembly skills.Excellent knowledge of ESD, RoHS and IPC standards.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficient with PC and MS Office applications.Experience with DMM, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzers, Function Generator, Frequency Counter, digital logic analyzers, programmable logic devices and JTAG tools desirable.RequirementsMinimum two-year Associate’s Degree in Engineering with 5 years of work experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of work experience (preferable).
