We are currently seeking a Jr-Level Mechanical Designer to support our Nuclear Project - Oak Ridge.Description:As a Jr-level mechanical designer, you will support the design and development of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for industrial and government facilities, including nuclear and DOE projects. Working under the supervision of Senior Designers and Mechanical Engineers, this role contributes to the development of construction-level design deliverables that meet project, quality, and safety requirements.This role is ideal for an early-career designer who is building technical skills in CAD and plant design tools, enjoys collaborative work, and is eager to grow within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.Key Responsibilities:Develop 2D drawings for HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, and plumbing systems using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar toolsPrepare design deliverables under supervision, including:Equipment layoutsDuct and piping plansIsometric drawingsSections, and detailsIncorporate engineer and senior designer markups and redlines into accurate drawingsCoordinate designs with mechanical engineers and other disciplines (structural, electrical, process, I&C)Ensure proper integration of mechanical designs with other disciplinesApply established design standards, procedures, and quality requirementsPerform self-checks and support revisions to drawings as directedParticipate in field walkdowns or site coordination activities when needed Basic Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree in Drafting, Design, or Engineering Technology preferred)0 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design for industrial or government facilitiesExperience with HVAC, piping, and plumbing layout designWorking knowledge of 3D design software such as AutoCAD and MicroStationAbility to learn new software tools, workflows, and design standardsStrong attention to detail and willingness to accept technical guidance and feedbackEffective communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment Preferred Qualifications:In addition to the Basic Qualifications the ideal candidate might also have:Prior nuclear, DOE, or high-hazard facility design experienceExperience working under a formal quality program (ISO 9001, NQA 1)Experience supporting multidisciplinary design teamsDemonstrated interest in professional growth and technical development Work Environment:This position is primarily located onsite at an active industrial construction projectThe work environment may involve frequent presence in construction and operational areas with exposure to elevated noise levels, hazardous materials, and other site-specific hazardsAdherence to project safety requirements and site access controls is required Physical Requirements:Ability to sit or stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 35 lbs occasionallyVision correctable to 20/20Ability to read and use computer-aided design software effectivelyAppropriate PPE and training will be provided as required Compliance & Eligibility Requirements:U.S. Citizenship required (no dual citizenship)Valid driver's license is requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a security clearanceAbility to pass pre-employment background investigation and drug screeningWillingness to work overtime or outside normal hours as neededProfessional appearance appropriate for a customer-facing engine Compensation Details:$55,000 - $65,000The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
