Overview Recreational Therapists contracted with Achieve Behavior Alliance Plus, LLC provide individualized, functional, and goal-driven therapeutic services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a contracted position, and we are intentionally building a network of independent providers who value flexibility, autonomy, and meaningful community-based work.Recreational Therapists at Achieve focus on helping individuals build skills through leisure, recreation, and community engagement. Services are delivered primarily in home and in community settings, supporting real-life skill development and increased independence. Recreational Therapists provide services under an independent contractor agreement and are not employees of Achieve Behavior Alliance Plus, LLC. Achieve will not provide insurance coverage of any kind for the benefit of the Contractor, including but not limited to Worker's Compensation, Unemployment, or other insurance. Responsibilities Recreational Therapists may provide services including, but not limited to:Provide one on one recreational therapy with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, serve on the individual’s support team including but not limited to case managers, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Assess each client’s needs using a standardized recreational therapy assessment and developing treatment plans. Outline services in the Person-Centered Individualized Support Plan. Track client’s goals and objectives to help prepare reports indicative of progress or regression. Using the electronic medical record (EMR) system document attendance record, therapist logs, and/or charts detailing services provided, dates and times. Planning and providing appropriate recreational therapy activities and interventions. Providing individual or group recreational therapy services (no more than four (4) in individuals in the client’s home or other location. Encouraging clients to go to local community interests for therapy sessions which include but are not limited to local gyms, parks, sporting events, malls, bowling, swimming pools and much more. Working independently managing your own caseload. Providing structured activities designed to meet clinical goals. Documenting sessions according to Indiana Medicaid Waiver standards. Teach and coach caregivers, direct care staff, and team members on recreational therapy activities and interventions. Using responsibilities under 460 IAC 6-3-43 to restore, remediate, or rehabilitate an individual to improve the individual’s functioning and independence and reduce of eliminate the effects of individual’s disability. Physical Requirements Contractors must be able to: Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach Assist with transfers Safely assist clients with limited mobility Requirements: Requirements: CPR & First Aid Certificate (initial test fee & renewal fees incurred by Contractor) Negative TB test (initial test fee & renewal fees incurred by Contractor) Clean background check Certification: must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). This credential is issued by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification. Education: A Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy, or a related field is required Insurance: Professional Liability Insurance Valid Driver's License Active Auto Insurance Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Reliable transportation to and from clients location Active Auto Insurance with Proper Coverage as recommended by an insurance agent for the driving incurred for this position Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy, or a related field is required Must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Clean background check Must not be excluded from receiving federal payments for providing healthcare services and consent to searches of the Office of Inspector General List of Excluded Individuals and Entities database monthly Must not be excluded from federal healthcare programs and consent to searches of System for Award Management (SAM) at start of contract and monthly Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and with a team Access to electronic devices with access to internet Experience working with individuals (children and/or adults) with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or Autism Experience working as a Recreational Therapist preferred Familiarity with an electronic health record system Familiarity with Google Workspace Working knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security standards
