Database AdministratorWe are actively searching for a candidate who is a subject matter expert with hands-on experience supporting all distributions of MySQL databases, including, but not limited to MySQL, Percona XTraDB Cluster, PostgreSQL, and cloud offerings such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS. This role will be primarily focused on day-to-day production database administration for these databases.Job ResponsibilitiesImplement backup and recovery processes, provide system and SQL performance tuning, and assist in business process integration with various data sources.Fulfills user requests ranging from access control, backup, restore, refresh to non-production to performance tuning.Provides online & on call coverage for production support and administration of MySQL, PostgreSQL and support our production and redundant environments.Contribute to automated processes, including Optum-developed automation as well as third party tools.Manage internal customer requests through tickets and following through to completionThoroughly document and improve operational practices and proceduresTroubleshoot and resolve issues in all environmentsParticipate in other projects and duties as assigned as well as on-call rotationQualificationsAt least 5 years of hands-on experience in MySQL administration. PostgreSQL is a plus.A strong background in automation and scripting (bash, PERL, python) to develop DBA applications for system automation and integration.Experience in complex data tier architecture, including replication, clustering (Percona), and system interaction with the DBMS.Experience with cloud-based software ecosystems (Azure preferred)Familiarity with continuous integration, testing and deployment.Experience with monitoring, metrics, and visualization with tools like, Nagios, Graphite, Monyog, PMM, Grafana, etc.Able and willing to work in a team environment and adopt a culture of ownership and initiative and promote such within the team.Able and willing to work independently and in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, with minimal supervisionExcellent interpersonal skills, as well as excellent communication skills, verbal and written to both technical and non-technical audiences that are in a geographically dispersed environment
