Electrical Engineer I

Job Posting Title Electrical EngineerJob DescriptionElectrical EngineerThis position is located On-site in our Bayou La Batre, AL shipyardOur Electrical Engineers are an integral part of our daily work. The Electrical Engineer I will work closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer to develop, integrate, and test the completed designs. Assists the Senior Electrical Engineer to execute design tasks within schedule and budget. Support the transition to production and the design of agreed to changes to the configuration baseline. Some of your daily functions will include:Roles and Responsibilities:Meet daily with the electrical engineering team to escalate roadblocks to have the barriers removed.Develop electrical power generation and power distribution systems for marine applications.Integrate Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber and Intelligence (C5i) systems into vessels.Create and review wiring routing tables with passthrough information, terminate identification, wire type, connector part numbers, label descriptions in MS Access.Produce electrical plant load analysis along with wire sizing and component protection in accordance with ABS standards.Establish functional and acceptance test plans for system designs.Under the guidance of Electrical Engineers II and III, ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the specifications, drawings, and terms of the contract including ABS standards within assigned SWBS section.Develop engineering deliverables in accordance with engineering processes, ensuring safe, fit for purpose engineering deliverables, and presenting material associated with the above life-cycle reviews.Develop ShipConstructor 3D models and associated 2D drawings/schematics in accordance with company, industry, and project standards.Release drawings following company workflow.Create engineering reports to show compliance with project requirements based on design, test, analysis, and similarity.Partner with quality to troubleshoot installation issues, determine root cause, and recommend solutions.Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department by creating work instructions for best practices.Closely managed and tasks are limited in complexity.Qualifications / Skills / Experience:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering2 years of electrical engineering experienceStrong organizational and project management skillsPreferred:Marine electrical engineering experienceBirdon offers a full benefits package including:Health/Dental/VisionEAPLifeSTD/LTD401(k) with company match (pre- and post-tax options)Vacation/Sick accrual and holiday payTuition reimbursement programEmployee referral programPet InsuranceBirdon is committed to the HEALTH and SAFETY of our workforce and to the ENVIRONMENT we expect this same commitment from all employees.
