Job DescriptionThe Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients to maintain or restore patients to their maximum functional performance level and completes discharge planning.ResponsibilitiesEvaluates and develops plan of care according to American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) guidelinesAdministers physical therapy treatments appropriate to diagnosis and to APTA guidelinesCompletes discharge planning according to APTA guidelines by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferencesDocuments and charges for patient care services by charting in patient and department records according to federal, state, and local regulationsProtects patients, employees, and visitors by promoting infection-control and safety policies and protocolsMeets productivity standardsEnsures operation of equipment, follows manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions and reports the need for repair to supervisorSupervises Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants, Rehab Aides, other support staff, and studentsOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequired Education: Bachelors Degree in Physical TherapyPreferred Education: Masters Degree in Physical Therapy or Doctoral Degree in Physical TherapyPreferred Experience: Adult and/or geriatric therapy experienceRequired Certifications and Licensures: Licensed by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy
