Aquarist
Job DescriptionThe marine husbandry aquarist I is responsible for the daily care and health management of all fish in the facility. These duties include but are not limited to distributing feeds to marine fishes, water quality sampling and testing, tank cleaning, inventory control, recognition and treatment of diseases, making and distributing saltwater, and other husbandry-related tasks as assigned.Primary RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIESWork closely with team members to assess livestock quality Isolate and administer treatments to animals exhibiting signs of diseaseRemove deceased animals from the main holding systemsPrepare and distribute feeds to livestock daily to meet their nutritional requirementsWork within departmental standard operating procedures to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goalsMaintain system organization and move fish as neededPerform daily water quality and testingMaintain filtration systems as requiredIdentify and remove healthy animals from the treatment systemClean tanks, systems, and work areas as requiredMaintain cultures of live feeds as assignedData entryMix and distribute chemicals as requiredCount and adjust inventory as requiredSecondary RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIESAssist livestock acclimation, freshwater husbandry, invert husbandry, packing and picking, and facility maintenance teams. Other responsibilities as assigned Qualification/RequirementsBachelor’s degree in biology or related fieldWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office suiteAbility to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environmentStrong verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of marine fishes and invertebrates preferredFish pathology, coral husbandry, and coral propagation preferredWeekend and holiday work requiredVariable hours requiredPhysical RequirementsStanding for more than 7 hours per day.Able to lift 60 lbs.
