Mechanical Engineer

Dusty Robotics builds autonomous construction robots that automate layout printing directly on job sites. Our robots bridge the gap between digital design and physical construction, bringing precision, speed, and reliability to the field. You'll work closely with our hardware team to design, build, and test mechanical systems that power our robots. This is a hands-on role where your designs won’t just live in CAD—they’ll be built, tested, broken, improved, and shipped. What You'll DoWe’re looking for a strong mechanical engineer to both design our next generation product and bring in the experience needed to make our product reliable and easy to build for higher volume manufacturing. You will work on all aspects of robot design from the main drive mechanism, motion stages and print mechanism to the skin and packaging. Our ideal candidate has experience bringing electro-mechanical products with similar features to market. This includes hands-on experience with the different stages of mechanical design, from prototyping though design validation, design for manufacturing, and reliability.Additional DutiesPush the limits of hardware design for our next generation hardware for our robotic layout platformWork on the mechanical design of a precision autonomous robot having multiple electro-mechanical systems.Work with unique technologies in printing and optics.Be part of a cross-disciplinary team that is solving problems spanning mechanics, printing, optics, electronics, firmware, and softwareBe part of a growing, successful startup with strong customer pull for our productWho You Are7+ years experience developing electro-mechanical systems from design through production.Experience with manufacturing processes including precision machining, sheet metal manufacturing, 3D printing, injection molding, and thermoforming.Experience designing for manufacturing, assembly, and designing for reliability.Experience with static and dynamic structural design and analysis for structures is a plus.Experience with printing technologies or optics is a plus. Competency in core engineering skills in math, physics, and mechanics.BS in mechanical engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred
