This person will own day-to-day production database administration, performance tuning, replication, clustering, backup/recovery, upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is deeply experienced with MySQL, highly proficient with advanced SQL, and comfortable administering and automating database environments directly from the Linux command line.Top 4 SkillsEnterprise MySQL Administration — Production support, installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.SQL & Performance Tuning — Advanced SQL, query optimization, indexing, execution plans, and database performance analysis.High Availability & Disaster Recovery — MySQL replication, clustering, failover, backups, recovery, and DR.Linux & Shell Scripting — Strong Linux command-line administration and scripting to automate DBA activities.ResponsibilitiesAdminister enterprise production MySQL databases.Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain MySQL.Configure and support replication, clustering, and automated/manual failover.Manage backup, restore, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.Troubleshoot database and production application issues.Analyze and improve database performance.Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and execution plans.Develop and troubleshoot complex SQL.Automate recurring DBA processes with Linux shell scripts.Perform database migrations and environment refreshes.Conduct database capacity planning.Work closely with application development and infrastructure teams.Participate in production on-call support.Follow enterprise change-management processes.QualificationsExtensive hands-on MySQL DBA experience.Experience supporting enterprise, production, mission-critical environments.Advanced SQL skills.Strong MySQL performance tuning and optimization experience.Strong Linux command-line skills.Shell scripting/automation experience.Strong MySQL replication and high-availability knowledge.Backup, restore, and disaster recovery experience.Experience with Galera Cluster, InnoDB Cluster, or Group Replication is highly preferred.Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.Strong communication and technical documentation abilities.
