5th Shift Lead
Summary: The 5th Shift Lead position is a leadership role for operations crew members. The primary goal is to assure safe and efficient production by working with and supporting directives from the Operations Manager and delegating assignments and responding to changing conditions in a timely manner.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Understand and enforce all areas of safety health and environmental policies and procedures ensuring a strong safety culture, including the support of safety training.
Leads the crew using the discipline of SOP's, measurement, analysis and effective troubleshooting.
Analyzes specifications and control continuous operation to produce products .
Manage processing schedules, operating logs, test results of samples, and laboratory recommendations to determine changes in equipment controls required to produce specified quantity and quality of product.
Manage personnel with responsibility for ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to do their jobs.
Clearly communicate to employees expectations, provide feedback for continuous improvement and development as outlined by the Operations Manager.
Conducts employee performance appraisals, engages in disciplinary action when necessary, and administers time clock and time off issues.
Plans and directs procedures that are designed to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards.
Control the inventory of chemicals to maintain consistent production with minimal usage to lower budgetary requirements.
Coordinate and support production personnel to achieve completion of workload.
Support efforts to maximize production through creative problem solving, adaptation, and correction of process bottlenecks.
Patrols units to verify safe and efficient operating conditions.
Troubleshooting equipment, processes and procedures for normal operations.
Qualifications:
Ability to perform Production Operator duties in ALL areas of production facility.
Available to work fill in shifts on nights and weekends as needed.
Understanding of all plant operational processes and procedures, including routine and emergency start-up and shutdown practices.
Ability to effectively facilitate problem solving and troubleshooting with multiple people from different areas of responsibility.
Ability to give clear and concise direction to others.
Familiarity with industrial equipment operations and care.
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge in the areas of: planning, organizing, and interpersonal communications.
Analytical testing and specifications for control points and final product.
Maintaining a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements of FRA, TTB and state regulations.
Valid driver’s license required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Must be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps, lift up to 60 lbs., and work at heights.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
The employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions.
The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
The employee will regularly be exposed to chemicals used in the process.
