Developer Relations Engineer

Check out our open source projects on GitHub and join our Slack community to see what Buf is all about.About The RoleAs an experienced Developer Relations Engineer, you'll be the gateway between our team and the developer community. Your mission is to elevate and amplify our developer experience, champion our products, and cultivate a thriving and supportive community around the Buf ecosystem. This position requires a blend of broad technical proficiency, outstanding communication skills, and a fervent dedication to empowering developers.You will be responsible for:Developing and curating content, such as blog posts, short videos, tutorials, and demos, to educate and inspire our community.Engaging continuously with our community in Slack, social media, and in-person or virtual events.Advocating for our customer's interests within the company.Traveling to conferences and representing Buf's brand to our customers and community.About YouWe're looking for someone who has:2-4+ years of experience working in Developer Relations or Community Management.Experience writing production-quality code.A passion and ability to learn and teach new technologies to others.Exceptional communication skills and organizational abilities.Experience working productively in a fully remote environment with high autonomy and high responsibility.Working hours that significantly overlap US Eastern Time.Ideal candidates would also have:A breadth of technical knowledge and experiences to draw from to develop rich technical content.Experience with one or more of the specific technologies mentioned in this job description (e.g., gRPC, Protobuf, Kafka, OpenAPI).Has contributed (or regularly contributes) to open source projects and communities.Comfortable being on stage and presenting to large audiences.Experience working on products that target developers (i.e. dev tools).At Buf, we embrace diversity.
