Job DescriptionControllerSan Diego Small Defense Manufacturing Company150-180kA premier global designer and manufacturer of high-performance rugged technology solutions is seeking a hands-on Controller. Based in Poway, CA, this onsite role is responsible for all aspects of the organization's accounting functions within a fast-paced, small to medium-sized company environment. Core ResponsibilitiesThe Controller will lead the finance team and partner with executive management to establish business and financial strategies. Key duties include: Financial Reporting & Analysis: Provide timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including the parent company. Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare weekly forecasts and annual budgets while identifying trends, risks, and opportunities. Cost & Inventory Management: Oversee product/job cost trends, manage inventory valuation (WIP and finished goods), and lead cycle count programs. Compliance & Controls: Implement financial and IT controls to ensure SOX compliance and manage local tax and regulatory filings. Operational Support: Evaluate customer credit applications, review revenue recognition for incoming orders, and lead process improvement initiatives. RequirementsQualifications & ExperienceThe ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with a strong background in manufacturing. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Certification: Must hold a CPA and/or CMA designation in good standing. Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience, including a heavy emphasis on cost accountingTechnical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and the ability to manipulate high volumes of data. Experience with NetSuite manufacturing software is a significant plus. Leadership: Proven ability to motivate, mentor, and develop a finance team while interacting effectively with senior management.
