Facilities Controls Technician
Job DescriptionSeeking a skilled Facilities Controls Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of facilities building and process control systems in a high tech semiconductor manufacturing facility. This role focuses on hands-on technical proficiency, problem-solving, and system reliability across critical facility infrastructure.This position will maintain and support a semiconductor clean room factory where computer chips are produced. Systems and equipment include Electrical distribution, controls/automation, SCADA (system controls and data acquisition), Fab equipment installation, air handlers, environmental controls, chillers, boilers, process cooling water, ultra-pure water systems, wastewater treatment, fire alarms, exhaust scrubbers, hazardous gas monitoring systems, cryogenic liquids, high voltage distribution gear, and subsequent support systems.This Job Is For You IfControl Systems Monitoring & TroubleshootingMonitor, diagnose, and resolve issues with:Building Management Systems (BMS)Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systemsProgrammable Logic Controllers (PLCs)Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Facility Monitoring & Control Systems (FMCS)Perform root-cause analysis for alarms, system faults, and trending anomaliesUtilize system dashboards, historian data, and logic diagrams to troubleshoot equipment behaviorTechnical Maintenance & System OptimizationPerform software and hardware maintenance on control system components (sensors, actuators, I/O points, communication networks)Troubleshoot instrumentation supporting semiconductor facilities systems (HVAC, ultrapure water, process cooling, toxic gas monitoring, DI water, clean dry air, vacuum systems, Steam)Troubleshoot and repair facilities system operationsRead and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, control logic, and network diagramsUse trend data and analytics tools to identify drift, degradation, or performance inefficienciesRecommend adjustments to control strategies, setpoints, and sequences to improve stability and energy efficiencyGenerate reports on system health, alarms, uptime, and equipment performanceProvide emergency after hours support if/when necessaryWorking Conditions –Works under general supervision with considerable freedom for independent actionMakes decisions that impact production, support areas, operations and officesCommunicate/work closely with internal customers and outside contractorsIndustrial setting with electrical hazards and noisy environmentJob RequirementsInstalling, maintaining, servicing, rebuilding, troubleshooting, repairing, and operating a semiconductor facilityWorking knowledge of facilities related equipment: chillers, boilers, compressors, pumping systems, etc.Experience troubleshooting and maintaining controls and instrumentation systemsAllen Bradley PLCs a plusCimplicity Scada system a plusAssociate degree or completion certificate in Instrumentation, Electronics or Electrical3+ years experience in Controls or I&E where both electrical and controls skills are used for maintaining, installing or troubleshooting in an industrial settingInstrumentation calibration/calibration documentationKnowledge of facilities system (HVAC, UPW water, Chillers, etc)Requires outstanding troubleshooting skillsTechnical experience in semi-conductor facilities a plusControls, SCADA, and Instrumentation knowledge and experienceAutomated building control system/Facility Management systems knowledge a plusBasic computer skills, Word, Excel & EmailAdvanced computer skills a plusElectrical safety knowledgeRead & understand ladder logic; programming ability is a plusCompliance, Safety & DocumentationMaintain accurate records of system changes, calibrations, and work performedAdhere to semiconductor industry safety requirements including:LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)High purity chemical and gas safetyConfined space and electrical safety protocolsSupport audits, inspections, and quality/ISO documentation requirements
