Together, we can make an impact and build something exceptional for our customers, families, communities, and each other.Job SummaryThe Inside Wire & Cable Product & Project Demand Specialist is a hybrid commercial and technical role responsible for forward‐looking construction project demand planning and wire and cable product support. The role partners closely with Product, Project Management, and Purchasing to translate complex construction project backlog into actionable supply plans, while supporting customers and internal teams with technical product expertise, pricing validation, and application guidance.This position owns visibility into what commercial demand exists, when it is expected to occur, and the associated confidence level, enabling informed planning and decision‐making without duplicating responsibilities held by Project Management (customer coordination), Product Management (strategy and pricing), or Purchasing (procurement execution).Essential FunctionsProvide pre‐sales technical support, including specification review, bill of materials development, product sizing, recommendations, pricing validation, CRM opportunity support, and customer‐facing technical guidance.Execute wire and cable product strategy by supporting the introduction, adoption, and effective use of new and emerging products.Maintain a centralized, forward‐looking view of the construction project backlogTranslate project demand into actionable supply plans, including early buys versus delayed purchases, staged release timing, and risk‐based scenarios to support project execution.Support monitoring the utilization and execution of wire and cable and conduit futures contract agreements.Proactively identify demand gaps, inconsistencies, and risks, and drive cross‐functional alignment to resolve issues and mitigate exposure.Collaborate with Category Procurement to enable informed buying decisions, including early purchases, staged buying strategies, and risk mitigation.Required QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.3+ years of experience in electrical distribution, construction support, supply chain planning, product support, or a related commercial or technical role.Experience providing technical or pre‐sales support, including specification review, bill of materials preparation, product sizing, or application assistance.Experience working cross‐functionally with Project Management, Procurement, Sales, or Product teams to support execution and planning.Basic understanding of pricing concepts, inventory exposure, and supply constraints within a distribution environment.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical or planning information to internal teams and customers.Preferred QualificationsStrong knowledge of wire and cable or commodities-based product linesExperience in project-based demand environments (construction, data centers, industrial)Familiarity with ERP/business systems (Solar strongly preferred)Proficiency with CRM tools and structured opportunity trackingExperience supporting construction projects or phased material releases in an electrical or industrial distribution environment.Familiarity with contract or futures‐based pricing concepts for wire, cable, or conduit materials.Exposure to demand forecasting, backlog tracking, or supply planning processes.Intermediate Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups).Experience in a supporting role that bridges commercial, technical, and supply chain functions.Familiarity with new product introductions or assisting with market adoption efforts.Company OverviewFounded in 1948, Werner Electric Supply has grown from a small appliance store in downtown Neenah, WI into an award-winning employer and leading electrical distributor with 12 branch locations in Wisconsin and Upper-Michigan.
