Project Executive

The Role The Mission Critical Center of Excellence delivers large-scale, complex projects annually, specializing in data center and mission-critical construction for leading technology and telecommunications clients across the United States. The Project Executive, Mission Critical provides overall leadership and strategic direction across assigned projects. This role is responsible for contract oversight, financial performance, client relationships, and ensuring successful project delivery from preconstruction through closeout. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Project Oversight Provide leadership across all financial, operational, and strategic aspects of projects Maintain high-level oversight from project inception through completion, including budget, cost control, performance, and progress tracking Ensure seamless transition from preconstruction to operations, working closely with Project Managers and Superintendents Allocate appropriate resources and assign qualified staff based on project scope and complexity Oversee project execution to ensure alignment with budget, schedule, quality, and profitability objectives Business Development & Project Acquisition Support work acquisition efforts, including defining project budgets, schedules, and execution strategies Participate in proposal development, RFP responses, and client presentations Leverage industry relationships to identify and pursue new opportunities Contribute to contract negotiations and project award processes Evaluate project risks and challenges that may impact delivery or profitability Preconstruction & Project Start-Up Collaborate with preconstruction and estimating teams to develop budgets, schedules, and logistics plans Ensure effective handover between preconstruction and operations teams Review and approve pre-mobilization activities Assign project management and field teams Project Operations Maintain a thorough understanding of contract requirements and ensure compliance across project teams Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, costs, and performance Identify risks and implement solutions to maintain schedule and budget targets Drive high standards in quality, execution, and client satisfaction People & Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and broader project teams Support recruitment, hiring, and talent development initiatives Ensure effective alignment of team capabilities with project requirements Foster a high-performance culture across all project teams Financial Management Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability Manage cash flow, accounts receivable, and overall P&L performance Maintain visibility into contingencies, risks, and cost-saving opportunities Schedule & Process Management Support development and execution of baseline schedules Monitor schedule performance and implement improvements where needed Promote structured planning methodologies and workflow optimization Ensure adherence to internal standard operating procedures and processes Safety & Compliance Champion a strong safety culture across all project sites Ensure appropriate safety planning and budget allocation Drive compliance with all safety standards and best practices Client & Stakeholder Management Serve as the primary senior contact for clients, owners, consultants, and key stakeholders Maintain ongoing communication to assess satisfaction and project performance Build and sustain long-term client relationships Represent the organization in all external engagements Meetings & Governance Participate in and lead key project and financial review meetings Chair regular project team meetings to monitor performance and alignment Qualifications Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field Typically 1015+ years of experience with a large-scale general contractor or construction management firm Strong understanding of complex commercial and mission-critical construction practices Proven track record managing multiple large-scale projects and leading high-performing teams Experience developing and managing client and stakeholder relationships Ability to adapt to changing environments and implement new processes effectively Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
