Coder, Provider Practice - Gastroenterology & Nephrology / DialysisRemote. Careers With PurposeLocation: Remote, ND (Central Time). Shift: 8 Hours - Day Shifts. Full time, 40.00 weekly hours. Salary Range: $19.00 - $30.50 per hour.Job SummaryServe as a resource for providers in understanding covered indications and supporting documentation. Supports technical and professional services in provider clinic as well as Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) and hospital professional services. Maintains a thorough understanding of National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and relative value units. Understands Medicare and Commercial Carrier workflows for daily coding, denial review, and appeals management, including preparation of supporting documents. Monitors and validates physician charge capture. Self‑motivated to work independently, multi‑task, problem‑solve and make informed recommendations to medical professionals. Participates in coding team meetings and serves as a subject‑matter expert.Reviews medical documentation from physicians and other healthcare providers; assigns modifiers, diagnostic and procedure codes for symptoms, diseases, injuries, surgeries and treatments according to official classification systems and standards. Uses relevant policies, procedures and individual judgment to determine compliance with laws, regulations, or standards.Provides accurate and timely coding (ICD‑10‑CM, HCPCS, CPT) in accordance with official coding standards, regulatory compliance guidelines and company procedures. Reviews and audits medical record documentation to substantiate appropriate service reimbursement. Conveys coding guidelines to physicians to improve documentation accuracy.Computer skills; ability to interpret, analyze, abstract data/documentation; good problem‑solving, self‑motivation, time management and organizational skills.QualificationsAssociate degree in Health Information Technology or certification in coding.Specific knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology, coursework in ICD, CPT, HCPCS, medical terminology or human anatomy/physiology.Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Professional Coder‑Apprentice (CPC‑A), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist‑Physician based (CCS‑P), CCS Healthcare (CCS‑H), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) required.
