We are seeking cleared and clearable professionals who want to help modernize mission systems, automate workflows, and deliver secure technology where it matters most.Work Location: Doral, FL / Miami Area (In person / on-site)Program: SCITES 2Employment Type: Full-Time W2 Clearance Requirements:Must have an active Secret clearance (Required).Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI clearance. Job description: Arrona Tech is seeking a motivated, mission focused Senior Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer to support the SOUTHCOM Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services 2 (SCITES 2) contract in Doral, FL, within the Miami area. This is a full time W2, onsite role supporting a secure Department of Defense mission environment. An active Secret clearance is required, and the candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain Top Secret SCI access.The Senior VDI Engineer will support enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure engineering, modernization, sustainment, and optimization efforts. This role is focused on requirements analysis, solution design, lifecycle documentation, platform stability, secure baseline management, and hands-on technical execution across enterprise VMware Horizon based VDI environments.The ideal candidate will have strong experience engineering and supporting VMware Horizon, ESXi, vCenter, Dynamic Environment Manager, App Volumes, Instant Clone Pools, FSLogix for Microsoft 365, VDI gold images, patching, performance tuning, and secure DoD system operations. The candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting complex VDI issues, supporting modernization activities, developing engineering documentation, and working with cybersecurity, operations, and mission stakeholders to ensure reliable and secure virtual desktop services.Experience supporting a DoD Combatant Command or Service Component is strongly preferred. Prior experience supporting SOUTHCOM or SCITES is highly preferred.Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Lead engineering and modernization efforts for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments supporting DoD missions, driving requirements analysis, solution design, and lifecycle documentation in alignment with DoD 5000.02 processes.Engineer, manage, and optimize VMware Horizon 2512 enterprise VDI platforms.Support image creation, application layering, profile management, user experience optimization, and performance tuning.Administer and enhance VDI components, including Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM), App Volumes, Instant Clone Pools, FSLogix for Microsoft 365, ESXi, vCenter, and associated VDI infrastructure .Troubleshoot complex VDI issues, including desktop pool configuration changes, vCenter related desktop failures, image related defects, profile issues, performance degradation, and distributed environment problems. Maintain and update VDI Gold Images, executing monthly patch cycles, application updates, image optimization, and secure baseline enforcement to ensure consistent, mission‑ready desktop delivery.Ensure technical integrity and compliance of all VDI engineering deliverables across ISO/IEC 15288 Technical, Enterprise, and Agreement process areas.Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including VDI architecture diagrams, system design documents, engineering plans, requirements specifications, interface control documents, SOPs, and configuration records.Ensure cybersecurity, regulatory, and configuration compliance, including STIG implementation, RMF artifact development, vulnerability remediation, secure baseline management, and continuous monitoring of VDI systems.Collaborate with systems engineering, cybersecurity, operations, help desk, and customer stakeholders to maintain stable, secure, mission ready VDI services.  Required Qualifications: Active Secret clearance required.Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Top Secret SCI access.Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, systems engineering, VDI engineering, or a related technical field.Additional experience may be substituted for degree requirements.Five or more years of systems engineering or VDI engineering experience.Eight or more years of overall information technology experience.Hands-on experience supporting VMware Horizon VDI environments.Experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, VDI image management, and enterprise virtualization technologies.Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and customer support skills.Ability to work onsite in Doral, FL.Desired Qualifications: Hands‑on expertise with enterprise VDI platforms such as VMware Horizon (including Horizon 2512), ESXi, vCenter, and enterprise storage technologies.Experience with cloud‑based or hybrid VDI solutions, systems modeling, automation frameworks, and enterprise monitoring/observability tools.Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, secure baseline management, and cybersecurity compliance requirements for virtualized and distributed environments.Working knowledge of adjacent technical domains such as networking, Active Directory, scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python), endpoint management, or identity services.Experience with key VDI ecosystem components including Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM), App Volumes, Instant Clone Pools, FSLogix for O365, VDI Gold Image management, and troubleshooting vCenter‑related desktop issues.Professional certifications such as VCP‑DT, INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, DoD 8570.01‑M IAT Level II, ITIL Foundation, PMP, or Agile certifications.Experience working within a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a Service Component.Physical Requirements:Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.Must be able to move within the office to access equipment, communicate with coworkers and customers, and support presentations or meetings.Benefits: 401(k), paid time off, and a taxable health/medical stipend. Benefits are subject to eligibility, Company policy, payroll withholding, and applicable law.Compensation:   $115,000 - $140,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and contract requirements.
