Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead our engineering and design team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Civil/Structural engineering, project management, and systems (AutoCAD) engineering. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for driving engineering efficiencies and excellence in manufacturing and fabrication environments. The position will be a “working manager” and provide engineering and supervisory responsibilities. Clearly communicate expectations and accountabilities for performance while helping employees see the link between individual performance and achievement of company goals. Collaborate with Senior Management on vision, leadership, budgeting, and overall company goals and strategies. The engineering manager is expected to simultaneously play three key roles: People manager: Recruit, build and nurture a cohesive team using accountability and continuing education to constantly seek improvement and increased throughput. Product manager: Strategically build AutoCAD Inventor parametric models using iLogic and other automated features to streamline the release of production drawings, and BOM to the shop. Coordinate with Sales and Operations to strategically provide engineering guidance and support to achieve company financial goals. Minimum position requirements 5 years BS Civil/structural engineering or equivalent experience Demonstrated ability to manage an engineering/estimating/design/drafting staff Expert level of expertise in AutoCAD Inventor 3D modeling Willing to take advantage of AutoCAD continuing education opportunities Demonstrated ability to set and meet engineering release schedules Scope of Responsibility: Managing people Set targets, performance plans, and rigorous, objective standards for engineering staff. Deliver annual performance reviews for each direct report. Develop engineering release schedule with accountability KPI. Plan and preside over weekly engineering team meetings. Develop and implement QC standards to strive for zero rework goals. Unite the team: Ensure employees work as a positive unit and share their best practices. Set a good example for the team. Work according to company culture and values, prioritize ruthlessly, use good communication, and deliver results effectively. Managing product-line parametric models Utilize project scheduling techniques to manage timelines effectively. Design and develop mechanical systems using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other CAD software. Dedicate an agreed upon amount of time to work on existing projects. Implement a product-line expert system that allows each detailer to focus on best practices within their assigned product line so they can share their expertise with the rest of the team. Provide input and engineering expertise to sales so they can create accurate quotations. Identify projects that need professional engineering stamps. Develop working relationships with various engineers to work directly with them through all phases. Develop plan to edit models with as-built modifications so models stay “ready to release”. Coordinate with Sales and Operations Provide engineering guidance and support to help ensure quotes are accurate. Participate in benchmarking meetings, manager meetings and others as requested. Work with senior management to develop R&D projects for future development
