This individual will lead by example, maintain high standards for workmanship and accountability, and ensure fleet readiness through proactive maintenance and efficient shop operations.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and troubleshooting across fleet and equipmentLead by example in the shop, setting the standard for workmanship, urgency, and accountabilityTrain and develop technicians through hands-on coaching and real-time problem solvingManage shop workflow to ensure efficient movement of assets from intake through return to serviceAssign and manage work orders, ensuring timely completion and accurate documentationMaintain 95%+ fleet uptime by proactively addressing issues and minimizing downtimeExecute preventative maintenance programs to achieve 100% complianceEnsure no asset remains idle in the shop for more than 48 hours without documented causeServe as the final quality control checkpoint before assets are returned to serviceMaintain accurate inventory of parts, tools, and consumables while preventing shortagesSource parts, manage vendor relationships, and submit purchase order requests in alignment with company standardsMaintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environmentSupport field crews and operations teams by ensuring equipment is fully operational and ready for useProvide proactive communication regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and operational risksOperate with urgency and decisiveness to minimize downtime and accelerate repair turnaroundPerform DOT inspections and ensure compliance across the fleetProvide daily updates to leadership regarding equipment status, downtime risks, and overall shop performanceHold technicians accountable for productivity, repair quality, and documentation standardsSupport seasonal readiness efforts for both lawn and snow operationsQualifications and SkillsStrong leadership skills with the ability to lead by example in a hands-on environmentAdvanced mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting abilitiesKnowledge of diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systemsStrong understanding of DOT compliance requirementsAbility to train and mentor techniciansHighly organized with strong attention to detailAbility to manage workflow and prioritize tasks effectivelyStrong communication skills and transparency with operations leadershipProcess-driven mindset with a commitment to systems and executionEducation and Experience5+ years of mechanical experience in fleet or equipment environmentsPrevious experience leading or training technicians preferredDOT certification required or ability to obtain within 90 daysExperience sourcing parts and managing vendor relationshipsExperience scheduling and managing shop workflowFleet, construction, or landscaping equipment experience preferredCMMS or maintenance software experience preferredValid driver's license requiredCDL preferredWelding and fabrication experience preferredPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 75 lbsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to work in both indoor and outdoor environmentsAbility to safely operate equipment and toolsAbility to work extended hours during peak seasonsINDH
