Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Schedule: Monday-Friday with 36-48 hours per week. Shifts are from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be responsible for providing all nursing care, treatment, and services in a professional and prescribed manner for geriatric residents. You will provide a variety of nursing care for elderly residents while overseeing and training subordinate staff. Your duties will include observing and reporting resident behavior and physical condition. You will administer medical treatment and provide intervention according to the plan of care. You will act as a lead with limited supervision on assignments. This position works under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. In the event you are the charge nurse, you will oversee the functions of all other LPNs and Certified Nursing Assistants on the unit. You will administer medication and perform treatments as ordered by the physician. Medications may be in various forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository. Treatments may include wound cleaning and dressing, tracheostomy care, and catheter care. You will observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments. You will ensure an adequate supply of medications and materials are available. You will communicate vital information regarding residents' medical, social, and functional needs. You will participate in receiving and giving shift reports. You will assist in completing the initial nursing assessment for newly admitted residents. You will contribute to the development of care plans and assessments. You will maintain clinical and administrative documentation regarding residents' progress. You will supervise subordinate staff and assist with direct resident care for daily living activities. You will learn and implement management methods for work process improvements. You will actively participate in quality improvement processes. You will conduct and participate in training programs for staff. You will attend staff meetings and may analyze data for improvement programs. Knowledge of geriatric nursing theory, medication practices, and nursing regulations is required. You must have the ability to listen, observe, assess, and respond effectively.
