Lower School Kindergarten Teacher
Tower Hill is seeking a Lower School Kindergarten Co-Teacher who will be responsible for all facets of teaching including, but not limited to, curricular instruction, lesson planning, assessment, classroom management, and report writing. Starting in August 2026, our new Kindergarten Co-teacher will join other dedicated colleagues in a collaborative, forward thinking, and stimulating environment. This is a full-time, benefitted,10-month position.ResponsibilitiesDifferentiate a rich and varied curriculum based on best practices and current researchAddress issues of social justice, diversity, equity, and anti-bias education in the curriculum and in our community while fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environmentTeach early reading and writing skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency instruction, reading comprehension, handwriting, grammar and vocabularyTeach foundational mathematics that focuses on developing number sense, deeper conceptual understanding and problem solvingIncorporate SEL within the curriculum and classroomUse a variety of instructional strategies and differentiation to reach and support every student in order to facilitate higher level thinking and maximize student engagementInnovate and work collaboratively with colleaguesIncorporate instructional technology Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional, positive, and respectful learning atmosphere in the classroomCommunicate respectfully, clearly and honestly in verbal, electronic and written form with parents, administrators, and colleagues Participate in early morning and dismissal duties, attend faculty meetings and in-service days Ideal Candidates Should Possess The Following Credentials And QualitiesA Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education from an accredited college Preferred two to three years of experience as a lead or co-teacher Ability to work collaboratively with a co-teacher and grade level team to design student-centered curriculum and meet the needs of diverse learnersStrong background in the social, emotional and cognitive development of young learnersKnowledge and experience teaching early reading and writing skills; experience with the Workshop model and phonics instruction is helpfulAn understanding of differentiated foundational mathematical instruction that focuses on developing number sense, critical thinking and problem solvingStrong classroom management skills A joyful spirit encouraging compassion, patience, and caringThe ability to reflect on one’s own teaching to adapt lessons to meet different abilities and interestsA positive, enthusiastic, flexible and warm personality with a passion for creating a love of learning in all students A growth mindset and desire to stay current in contemporary pedagogical thinking, strategies and techniques through feedback, further education, reading, workshops, conferences, etc.Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus communityCommitment to safeguard and promote the welfare of studentsTower Hill School is a coeducational private school for age 3 through Grade 12, dedicated to living our motto Multa Bene Facta — Many Things Done Well.
