Software Engineer

Founding Engineer, YC-Backed Start-Up, AI Healthcare Training (Full-Stack) New York City I'm working with a YC-backed start-up in Manhattan that builds AI patients. Nursing, counselling, social work and teacher education students use them to practise real clinical conversations before they meet a real patient. The product is live in 250+ institutions and is closing in on 100,000 students.They're growing a small engineering team that works directly with the founders, and are looking for a Founding Engineer to join as engineer number three.The Role You'll start by taking technical support and account management off the founders, fixing real issues for professors, students and university admins across the full stack. From there you'll automate that work and move into building the product itself.Typical work includes: Owning technical support across the AI avatar simulations, LMS, field experience and compliance tools Diagnosing and fixing issues raised by customers, mostly over email with some calls Building automations and internal tooling in your first 30 to 60 days to cut the support load Shipping full-stack product features that students and faculty use every day Acting as a PM when needed and helping shape the architecture and engineering cultureTech Stack Full-stack development, AI agents, LLMs, automation.What they're looking for0 to 4 years of experience as a full-stack or forward-deployed engineerExperience on a founding team, as a founder, or at an early-stage start-up Comfortable working autonomously without a daily task listAble to work on-site in Midtown Manhattan 5 days a weekExperience in EdTech or with university environments is beneficialThe Opportunity Join as the third engineer at a YC-backed company with real tractionMove from support into core product work, with real ownership over what you build $160,000 to $200,000 base plus equityRelocation is covered H1B transfers and OPT are supportedIf you'd like to hear more about the role and the company behind it, feel free to apply or reach out directly on chris@submittdtalent.com
