As a Camp Counselor, you will lead both private and group programs, guiding children through exciting outdoor activities while fostering confidence, curiosity, and a deep love for nature. This position reports to the Director of Children's Programs.* Applications for this position will be considered on a rolling basis.Essential Job Functions / Key Job ResponsibilitiesLead campers in a variety of outdoor adventures, ensuring a fun, safe, and engaging experiencePlan and facilitate age-appropriate, hands-on activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and teamworkWork collaboratively with fellow counselors to foster a supportive and energetic camp atmosphereMaintain awareness of each child's location and well-being throughout the dayMonitor and support camper health and safety, including administering basic first aid when necessaryCommunicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding camper experiences and progressParticipate in camp-wide events and special programs to enhance the sense of community and camper engagementAssist with camper check-in and check-out procedures to ensure smooth transitions and clear communication with parents/guardiansOther duties as assignedQualificationsEducation & Experience RequirementsMust be 18 years or olderHigh School Diploma or equivalent preferredAt least one year of experience coaching, teaching, or working with children in a recreational setting requiredExperience leading on-mountain activities (mountain boarding, climbing, fishing, hiking, etc.) preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently when neededCapable of managing a small group of campers in an outdoor environment while ensuring their safety and maintaining an engaging environmentDemonstrates patience, empathy, and the ability to work with children in a variety of settingsComfortable participating in physically demanding outdoor activities and maintaining a high level of energy throughout the dayFlexibility to adjust to changing circumstances, weather, and camper needsAdditional InformationWork Environment and Physical DemandsAbility to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, bend or be on your feet for extended periods of timeRegularly work in wet, cold, hot conditions requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfacesMust be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)Job BenefitsThis position is classified as a seasonal part time position eligible for the following benefits:Enrollment dates differ across the various programs.Paid Time Off ProgramsEmployee Ski PassOther company perksThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
