Data Center Construction Manager
The Data Center Construction Manager is responsible for leading the execution of mission-critical infrastructure projects from pre-construction through turnover. This role oversees construction activities, contractor performance, quality standards, safety compliance, project schedules, and budget adherence while ensuring successful delivery of data center facilities and associated infrastructure.The ideal candidate combines strong construction management expertise with experience supporting complex technology, telecommunications, utility, or data center environmentsKey ResponsibilitiesProject LeadershipDirect day-to-day construction operations across multiple data center projects and expansion initiativesCoordinate activities between owners, design teams, contractors, vendors, and utility providersMonitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely completionIdentify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize schedule or cost impacts.Facilitate construction meetings and provide regular progress reporting to stakeholdersConstruction OversightManage field execution activities including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage scopes.Verify installation quality and adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards.Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure workmanship meets project requirements.Review contractor performance and hold trade partners accountable for safety, quality, and schedule commitments.Support commissioning readiness and turnover activitiesSafety & CompliancePromote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations.Ensure construction activities comply with local codes, permitting requirements, and environmental regulations.Maintain project documentation and compliance recordsFinancial & Schedule ManagementTrack project budgets, forecasts, and change ordersReview contractor invoices and validate completed workAssist with procurement activities and contractor selection processesMonitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve project efficiencyQuality AssuranceEstablish and maintain quality control processes throughout constructionReview inspection reports, testing documentation, and punch list itemsCoordinate resolution of deficiencies and verify corrective actionsEnsure successful project closeout and documentation turnoverQualifications RequireBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field; equivalent experience considered5+ years of construction management experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, telecom, utility, or data center projectsExperience managing multiple contractors and complex project schedulesStrong understanding of construction methods, safety regulations, and quality standardsAbility to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedulesProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management softwarePreferredExperience with mission-critical facilities or hyperscale data center environmentsKnowledge of commissioning processes and turnover proceduresFamiliarity with electrical distribution systems, generators, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, and fiber connectivityOSHA 30 certificationPMP, CCM, or related professional certificationDesired SkillLeadership and team coordinationVendor and contractor managementBudget and cost controlRisk assessment and problem-solvingProject scheduling and planningQuality assurance and complianceStrong written and verbal communicationStakeholder relationship managementWork EnvironmentCombination of field-based construction oversight and office/project management responsibilitiesAbility to travel to project sites as neededMay require occasional evening, weekend, or emergency support during critical project phasesWhat Success Looks LikeProjects delivered safely, on schedule, and within budgetHigh-quality construction with minimal reworkStrong contractor accountability and performanceEffective communication across all project stakeholdersSuccessful turnover of mission-critical facilities ready for operation
