Master's Degree in CommunicationDisorders/ Speech and Language Pathology2. Current Mississippi state license forSpeech-Language Pathology; Endorsement#2153. Such alternatives to the abovequalifications as the Superintendent mayfind appropriate and acceptable.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:1. Organize and conduct identification program of students with potentialspeech/language difficultiesEvaluate speech and language functionsPlan the educational program for students who have been identified asspeech/language impaired, Speech Impaired, and/or students having relateddisabilities with communication needs (i.e. Intellectually Disabled, Autistic,etc.)Implement the educational programComply with State Board Policy Chapter 74; Rule 74.19 and Volumes I, II,III, IV, and V of the Mississippi Department of Education ProceduresManual Standards, and District Policiesa. Follow district procedures for screening, pre-intervention and/or referringstudents needing a speech/language evaluationb. Complete comprehensive and appropriate assessments according to StateBoard Policy Chapter 74; Rule 74.19 and Volumes I, II, III, IV, and V ofthe Mississippi Department of Education Procedures Manual Standardsand District Guidelines;c. Provide a complete diagnostic summary report including a summary ofevaluation information;d. Complete IEP paperwork in a timely manner meeting all timelines as setforth by state board policy;e. Be a team member with the Individualized Education Plan Committeeincluding recommending and planning for program services incompliance with State Standards; andf. When appropriate, make referral for further evaluation6. Obtain and use diagnostic information:a. Participate in building committee (e.g., TST and/or StudentAssistance Teams) in order to provide pre-referral interventions,screening, and/or evaluation referral information;b. Administer appropriate assessments for each area of suspectedspeech/language impairment;c. Demonstrate understanding and use of the principles of diagnosticevaluation and interpretation; andd. Maintain on-going assessment to verify progress towardestablished goals7. Demonstrate program management skills:a. Maintain communication with the building faculty regarding therole of the SLP;b. Maintain a physical environment conducive to learning;c. Develop work schedule(s), which will fit the needs of the students,the school, and the faculty; andd. Report to building principal(s) first and then to the YCSD Directorof SPED8. Implement Intervention Program(s)a. Develop and maintain the instructional component of the IEPaccording to the results of the evaluation and on-going assessmentof progress;b. Develop long-range goals and specific objectives;c. When warranted and/or needed, complete daily notes for eachstudent in a timely manner;d. Include methods and materials in planning;e. Document student progress, attendance;f. Use a variety of approaches and materials to address the IEP thatare compatible with the student's age and interest, and abilities;g. Stay abreast of and implement new instructional strategies;h. When relevant, needed, and warranted attend workshops, inservice training, and PLC's to obtain up-to-date information in thearea of speech and language and maintain required certificationsand licensure;i. Implement instructional activities in a logical sequence; andj. Provide therapeutic intervention with students to enhance studentperformanceAdditional Duties and Responsibilities:1. Participate in state testing by becoming a test administratorfor students with modifications/accommodations whenneeded.2. Other tasks as may be deemed appropriate and necessary bythe immediate supervisor and/or the Superintendent.
