Seasonal Painting Assistant
Job Description Key ResponsibilitiesPerforms Assists with preparation of surfaces for painting, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and priming to ensure proper adhesion and quality finishes. Supports the application of paint, stains, and other coatings to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, and other equipment as directed. Maintains tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Assists with setup and breakdown of job sites, including moving materials, setting up ladders, and protecting adjacent surfaces and furnishings. Provides responsible and reliable coverage; shift work and weekend work may be required.Ensures Safety Policies and Procedures are followed and met. Conducts proper risk management practices and always ensures a safe environment for self and others. Follows all established safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of materials. Identifies and reports maintenance needs, unsafe conditions, or potential hazards to the supervisor in a timely manner. Actively participates in required and recommended safety training and applies best practices in daily work. Identifies and promptly reports maintenance needs, unsafe conditions, or potential hazards to the supervisor, escalating urgent issues as necessary. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with campus safety standards and regulatory requirementsRecord and Report Performed and Identified Preventative Maintenance and Repair Activities. Provides timely response to work orders and assignments independently. Performs daily "walk-throughs" to survey preventative maintenance and repair needs. Observe and report any defects, deterioration, and wear and tear on the facilities and equipment. Effectively completes required administrative processes on request and effectively produces required documentation and reports.Provide Customer Service and Response. Manage and resolve customer inquiries and complaints. Escalate complex questions and complaints to Supervisor. Coordinate and communicate all work in occupied spaces. Notify customers of outage and estimated repair times. Experience and QualificationsEntry level position, no prior work experience required. A high school diploma required, Vocational/Technical training preferred.1-3 years of related experience required Required KnowledgeBasic knowledge of painting and surface preparation techniques is preferred, including an understanding of cleaning, sanding, priming, and applying finishes.Familiarity with common hand tools and painting equipment is helpful, along with a general awareness of workplace safety practices, particularly as they relate to ladders, materials, and protective equipment.Knowledge may be gained through prior experience or a willingness to learn on the job. Required Skills and AbilitiesAbility to follow directions and complete assigned tasks with attention to detail and quality.Demonstrated ability to learn and apply proper painting techniques and safely use tools and equipment.Basic communication skills are required to interact effectively with supervisors and coworkers and to report issues or concerns clearly.Ability to manage time effectively and contribute to the completion of projects within established timelines.Ability to perform physical work for extended periods, including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working in indoor and outdoor environments.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.Ability to work at heights using ladders and follow safety procedures in all situations.A willingness to learn, adapt, and assist with a variety of maintenance tasks as needed is essential. Compensation Expected starting salary: $14.00 per hour.
