ROLE OVERVIEWReports to: SVP Strategy & Client SuccessLocation: US-based, Remote/Hybrid | Travel: ~25-30% domesticThe VP, Client Strategy will serve as a senior strategy and commercial leader for Simbe's North American mid-market portfolio. This is not a management-only role. The right candidate will be hands-on with a few priority clients, build trust with senior retail executives, and drive scaled expansion decisions - while simultaneously providing senior oversight and guidance across the broader portfolio. Core MandateDrive the commercial and strategic trajectory of Simbe's North American mid-market portfolioServe as primary senior relationship owner and strategic advisor at a few priority accounts, operating with the depth and presence of a consulting engagement partnerConvert existing pilots and early deployments into full-scale expansions by building executive conviction around shelf intelligence as a strategic business driver - not a point solutionProvide senior strategic direction operating in a consulting-engagement model where influence extends beyond direct managementPartner closely with the SVP, Strategy & Client Success and the CEO to align account strategy with company-level commercial prioritiesDevelop and refine value realization frameworks, ROI narratives, and expansion playbooks applicable across the portfolioKey ResponsibilitiesClient Strategy & Commercial ExecutionLead Joint Business Planning sessions and executive strategic reviews at priority accountsDevelop and present tailored expansion business cases tied to measurable retail KPIs (OOS reduction, shelf availability, labor efficiency, revenue uplift)Influence how senior retail leaders prioritize shelf intelligence internally - shifting the conversation from experimental pilot to strategic priorityNavigate complex multi-stakeholder environments across store operations, merchandising, IT, and financeValue Realization & AnalyticsDesign and execute value measurement frameworks that generate credible, client-ready ROI evidenceWork hands-on with Simbe data and analytics to build compelling narrativesEstablish metrics that link technology directly to business outcomesPortfolio Oversight & Team DevelopmentProvide senior strategic direction across the NA mid-market portfolioCoach and develop direct reports - elevating the quality of client strategy work across the teamDevelop scaling playbooks and reusable frameworks that extend senior thinking across broader client resourcesCommercial Enablement & Internal PartnershipPartner with Sales and Marketing to translate account-level insights into commercial positioning and go-to-market strategyCollaborate with Product on roadmap priorities grounded in mid-market client needsContribute to executive-level company strategy discussions, bringing a deep client and market perspectiveIdeal Candidate ProfileBackgroundMinimum 12 years in strategy consulting, enterprise retail strategy, or a senior operator role with a strong strategy componentSenior consulting pedigree preferred (leading firm) - with demonstrated ability to shape client strategic plans and roadmaps and deliver hands-on outcomesExperience driving and leading multiple complex client engagements concurrently to successful outcomesDeep familiarity with the retail industry: store operations, omni-channel, merchandising, category management, supply chain, or some combination thereofTrack record driving enterprise-wide strategic programs or technology transformations at major retail accountsCompetenciesExecutive presence and influence - credible and confident in rooms with VPs, SVPs, and C-suite retail executives; operates as a peerCommercial instinct - can identify expansion opportunities, frame business cases, and drive buy-in without direct sales responsibilityHands-on capability - willing and able to run analytics, build materials, and operate independently in a resource-lean environmentStrategic range - can zoom between high-level executive narrative and granular data-level problem solvingStartup adaptability - thrives in environments where structure is built, not inherited; comfortable with ambiguity and pace$250,000 - $280,000 a yearThe salary offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
