Registered Dietician

Registered DieticianShift: Full-TimeRate: $29 - $32/hr. (depending on experience)JOB DESCRIPTION:The Dietician works with the Food Service Director, Diet Technician, and other Dietary personnel to ensure that proper nutritional care is maintained. Communicates and establishes a rapport with other disciplines within the facility. Frequently interact with the residents on a 1:1 basis.RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares/oversees an initial nutritional assessment of all admitted residents.Participates in assuring that regular and therapeutic diet menus are nutritionally adequate and by the approved facility diet manual.Works with the diet technician to coordinate weekly weights, meal patterns, nourishments, meal supplements intake and consistency appropriateness, intake study requirements and result, documentation requirements, transfer/discharge summaries, and tube feed reviews. Reviews, evaluate, and charts (as needed) pertinent lab values.Continually counsels and educates the patients, residents, family members, and facility personnel on proper therapeutic and essential nutrition in conjunction with a diet technician.Monitors patient/resident meal, nourishment, supplement intake, and consistency appropriateness.Make appropriate referrals to OT, Speech Therapist, Dentist, and Nursing staff.Works in conjunction with the Food Service Director to ensure that:Policy and procedures are current and reviewed annually.Dietetic education programs are planned to keep the dietary and nursing departments updated and informed as required by Education Department.The facility diet manual is current and approved.Temporary and permanent dietary changes are nutritionally adequate.Attends interdisciplinary meetings, including weekly comprehensive care planning sessions.
