Database Administrator (Azure SQL)📍 Location: Onsite – Berkeley Heights, NJ Omaha, NE / Greenwood Village, CO / BH💼 Employment: Contract-to-Hire🕒 Experience: 5+ YearsWe are looking for a skilled Database Administrator with deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL to manage and optimize enterprise database environments. This is a fully onsite opportunity for a database professional experienced in Azure SQL Managed Instance, database migrations, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams are essential.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments with high availability.Design, implement, and support replication, backup/recovery, encryption, failover, and disaster recovery solutions.Perform database migrations, upgrades, modernization, and performance tuning across Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Azure, and SQL Server on Azure VMs (IaaS/PaaS).Monitor Azure SQL environments, Azure VMs, storage, memory, and overall database performance.Create and maintain database architecture documentation and MS Visio diagrams.Define data retention policies, storage strategies, and automation processes.Ensure database servers and related infrastructure remain secure, updated, and compliant.Support application deployments across Development, QA, Staging, and Production environments.Collaborate with Development, QA, and Operations teams to troubleshoot database and application issues.Participate in change management, issue resolution, and production support activities.Required Qualifications5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration experience.Strong experience with Azure SQL in multi-region environments.2+ years of experience with:Azure SQL Managed InstanceSQL Azure (PaaS)SQL Server on Azure VM (IaaS)Database migrations and modernizationPerformance tuning and optimizationHands-on experience with database backup, recovery, replication, failover, and disaster recovery.Experience monitoring Azure SQL databases, Azure VMs, storage, and memory utilization.Proficiency in Microsoft Visio for database architecture and documentation.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.Solid understanding of database design principles and storage strategies.Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance, SQL Server on Azure VM, and Azure SQL Database.Exposure to Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, or other NoSQL databases is a plus.Nice to HaveCosmos DB or NoSQL database experience.PostgreSQL administration experience.Enterprise cloud migration experience.Excellent teamwork and stakeholder communication skills.Location: Onsite – Omaha, NE / Greenwood Village, CO / BHEmployment Type: Contract-to-HireBackground Check: EFTPS Required
