Job Title: Architectural Drafter / DesignerJob DescriptionThe Architectural Drafter / Designer produces accurate, detailed construction documents and design drawings using Revit and AutoCAD while working closely with architects and engineers. This role focuses on modeling, drafting, and coordinating architectural documentation for education, public works, and commercial projects, ensuring that designs align with zoning, building code, and overall project requirements under the guidance of a supervisor.ResponsibilitiesModel and draft architectural designs in Revit and AutoCAD with a high level of accuracy and detail.Produce and complete construction documents for education, public works, and commercial projects.Work closely with architects and engineers to ensure designs align with zoning requirements, building codes, and project goals.Gather and organize all information needed to create accurate, coordinated drawings.Use CAD and Revit software to prepare drawings as directed by the supervisor.Update existing drawing files based on redlines and feedback provided by the supervisor.Perform limited zoning and building code research as directed, including basic building code analysis (IBC Chapter 5, Chapter 10, and Chapter 29).Coordinate the assembly of complete drawing sets under the direction of the supervisor.Update designs as needed and check drawings thoroughly for accuracy and consistency.Develop architectural solutions under the supervision of a more tenured team member.Research architectural technologies and support their implementation into building designs under supervision.Assist with coordination and interface with engineering consultants under the guidance of the supervisor.Prepare conceptual and schematic documents, including site plans for land use submittals and colored presentations.Produce floor plans, including dimensional, furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE), and presentation drawings.Create exterior elevation drawings for land use submittals, including materials, colors, and presentation-quality graphics.Draft building sections showing architectural, structural, and basic mechanical components.Essential SkillsMinimum of 3 years of experience as an Architectural Drafter or Designer, with 5–10 years of experience preferred.High proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (target proficiency level 8 out of 10).Strong experience producing and coordinating construction documents.Experience working on education, public works, or commercial projects.Ability to prepare conceptual and schematic design documents, including site plans, floor plans, exterior elevations, and building sections.Ability to perform basic building code analysis, including IBC Chapter 5, Chapter 10, and Chapter 29.Solid understanding of architectural design and drafting principles.Ability to interpret and apply redlines and direction from supervisors accurately.Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in drawings and documentation.Effective collaboration skills to work closely with architects, engineers, and consultants.Additional Skills & QualificationsDemonstrated proficiency in architectural drafting and design using both Revit and AutoCAD.Experience with commercial, public works, or education projects from early design through construction documentation.Ability to assemble coordinated drawing sets in collaboration with supervisors and consultants.Interest in researching and applying architectural technologies within building design.Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow direction while maintaining quality and deadlines.Strong communication skills to support coordination with architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.Work EnvironmentThe role is based in an open-format office of approximately 18 people, fostering collaboration and easy communication among team members. The standard schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with overtime rarely required to support a healthy work-life balance.
