Job SummaryThe Manager, Accounting role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the accounting and reporting functions.Essential FunctionsManage, review and ensure completion of all internal and external financial statements including the compilation and presentation of regulatory financial statements, etc. on a timely and accurate basisAnalyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations to assist in predicting future revenues and expensesReview and approve internal/external payment requests for contracted arrangements to ensure timely, accurate paymentEvaluate and make appropriate recommendations to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organizationMaintain all necessary internal controls for related entities consistent with Model Audit Rule (MAR) requirementsLead the audit and ensure compliance with audit and reporting functionsResearch existing and new legislation, changes in financial accounting standards and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) statutory requirements, including accounting transactions, and documents the impact and accounting requirements, including journal entries and financial reporting presentation and disclosures, in compliance with GAAP, STAT and/or other external reportingIdentify and oversee accounting requirements for new programs or program changesAssist in the implementation of new accounting-related systemsEnsure on-time filing of all internal and external financial reportsReview ad-hoc requests for information, schedules and analysis for specific area(s)Responsible for management of departmental staff, providing performance management and goal evaluation to direct reportsFiduciary duty to safeguard the financial assets of the CompanyPerform any other job duties as requestedEducation And ExperienceBachelor of Science/Arts Degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent work experience requiredBusiness related post-graduate degree is preferredSix (6) years of related experience in accounting/finance is requiredPrevious management experience is preferredManaged care or healthcare experience is preferredPrevious experience in a large ERP system is preferredCompetencies, Knowledge And SkillsFamiliar with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and proceduresExtensive Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or Statutory Accounting Principles (STAT)Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsAbility to lead and direct the work of others including the development, motivation and rewarding of staffWide degree of creativity and latitude (independent judgment) is requiredDemonstrates decision making and analytical/problem solving skills to perform a variety of complicated tasksPossesses critical thinking/listening skillsAbility to interact with all levels of management as well as external audit managementKnowledgeable of internal control frameworkProblem solving skillsIntermediate proficiency level with Microsoft OfficeLicensure And CertificationCertified Public Accountant (CPA) or other equivalent certification is preferredWorking ConditionsGeneral office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of timeMay be required to travel occasionallyCompensation Range$94,100.00 - $164,800.00 CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level. In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
