Strategic Sales Manager
We are recruiting a Strategic Sales Manager to deliver sustainable revenue growth through the end‑to‑end ownership of high‑value national and large regional sales opportunities across public and private sector clients.Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role is responsible for developing and converting a self‑generated pipeline of complex new business opportunities, leading major tenders, and supporting growth within existing strategic accounts through formal tender activity and significant contract expansions.The role operates with a high level of commercial ownership and accountability, while working within established sales governance and approval frameworks.What The Role InvolvesStrategic sales and pipeline ownershipDeveloping, owning, and managing a personal pipeline of high‑value national and large regional new business opportunitiesIdentifying and pursuing opportunities aligned to strategic growth sectors and target clientsQualifying opportunities and maintaining accurate pipeline forecasting and CRM dataBid leadership and deal conversionLeading the full sales process for complex and high‑value tenders, including bid strategy, coordination, submissions, clarifications, and negotiationsActing as bid lead for major public and private sector procurement exercisesProviding commercial input into pricing, margins, and contract structures in line with approval thresholdsTaking accountability for the quality, competitiveness, and timeliness of submissionsStrategic account growth supportWorking with Account Managers to support:Retentions and formal re‑tendersLarge‑scale renewalsMaterial contract growth or expansion requiring competitive procurementLeading tender and bid activity linked to existing strategic accounts, without responsibility for day‑to‑day account managementGovernance, performance and improvementEnsuring compliance with sales governance, approval processes, CRM standards, and data integrity requirementsDelivering against agreed revenue and conversion targetsDeveloping sales capability through effective use of CRM insight and AI‑enabled toolsStakeholder engagementRepresenting Vergo with senior client stakeholders, internal teams, and external partnersWorking with operational, finance, and QHSE teams to ensure solutions are deliverable, compliant, and commercially soundThis role may also include other reasonable duties required to support the business.Essential ExperienceWhat we’re looking forExperience in a senior B2B sales role securing high‑value or multi‑site contractsProven track record in new business development and tender‑led salesExperience leading complex and competitive tender processesExperience working with account management teams on renewals or re‑procurementsDesirable ExperienceExperience in facilities management, pest control, environmental services, or similar regulated service sectorsExperience of national contracts or framework‑based procurementEssential SkillsStrong commercial judgement with the ability to assess value, margin, and riskAdvanced written and verbal communication skills, including proposal development and presentationsAbility to work autonomously with accountability for personal performanceConfident senior‑level stakeholder engagementDisciplined use of CRM systems for pipeline and forecastingProficient in Microsoft Office and confident adopting digital and AI‑enabled toolsDesirableDegree, HND, or equivalent in a relevant disciplineFormal sales training (e.g. SPIN, Miller Heiman, Challenger)Understanding of public sector procurement processesAbility to travel and work additional hours as requiredFull UK driving licenceWhat We Offer25 days annual leave plus public holidaysHealthcare cash plan (Medicash)Employee Assistance Programme, including access to a 24/7 GP and prescription serviceEmployee wellness programmesLife assuranceEmployee referral programmeCompany CarLocation: National role, working from home with ad‑hoc travel throughout the UK as requiredIf you are interested in this role, please apply now and forward an up-to-date copy of your CV.Apply for this jobShare this jobLocationHome based with travelDepartmentClient ManagementJob TitleStrategic Sales ManagerSalarydoeExperiencestategic, commerical, B2BCityNationalCountryUnited Kingdom
