Maintain knowledge of applicable FCC rules and regulations and ensure all equipment within area of responsibility is operating safely and legally. Use this knowledge to evaluate and prioritize work assignments. Advise and assist engineers in the installation of complex equipment when needed. Represent Engineering with other departments in EMF related to engineering needs. Collaborate with leadership to establish procedures for Engineering operations, maintenance, remote controls, transmitters, receivers, antennas, and microwave equipment. Maintain knowledge of new technology and equipment in the broadcast industry to ensure EMF is aware of the cutting edge within the broadcast industry and makes wise decisionsabout which technologies and methodologies to implement, and when to do so. Develop modification plans for existing broadcasting equipment to improve technical performance. Assist the Senior Manager of Engineering and others in researching and designing solutions to technical needs that arise. Represent EMF as a partner in the larger broadcast industry, developing and sustaining relationships with related vendors and groups (NAB, SBE, etc.). Proactively communicate and work with other team members to resolve technical problems. Serve as a mentor for Broadcast Engineers and other personnel, training and developing technical knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and culture fit. Lead adhoc teams if/when assigned by management. Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor. What are we looking for? Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, college, or technical studies in electronics, communications, or related field(s), or five or more years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 10+ years’ experience troubleshooting and repairing failures in broadcast electronic equipment, or similar relevant experience. Advanced SBE Certification highly desirable. Knowledge and ability to accurately apply broadcast-related FCC rules and regulations. Thorough understanding of the components necessary in a broadcast air-chain. Knowledge of radio safety practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Proven ability to deal with multiple, simultaneous problems in a systematic, logical manner. Ability to read and understand electronic schematics, electrical drawings, and construction drawings. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to carry out calculations in common broadcast-related formulae such as transmitter efficiency, transmitter power output, wavelengths, and antenna system gain. Advanced understanding of satellite and microwave technology. Proficient understanding of radio frequency emissions. Skilled in IP-based technology, including computer networking technologies and practices and Audio over IP (AoIP) Able to effectively evaluate new technologies and methologies and understand how they could integrate and improve complex broadcast air chains. Ability to solder and de-solder electronic components without causing damage to the components or PC board. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation. Ability to think logically from problem to solution. Proficiency with MS Office products and other common software (internet browsers, etc.) What can we offer you?
