Automation EngineerLocation: Pueblo, CO (Relocation Assistance Available)Rocky Mountain Steel Mills is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Pueblo manufacturing facility. This role supports highly automated steelmaking and rolling mill operations by designing, improving, and maintaining control systems that keep production running safely, efficiently, and reliably.You'll work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to implement automation solutions that improve quality, reduce downtime, and optimize performance across the steel production process.What You'll DoSupport automation systems for steelmaking, casting, and rolling mill operationsDesign, develop, and implement control systems (hardware and software)Troubleshoot and improve PLC and HMI systems (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation)Analyze production processes from scrap melting through finished productDevelop performance metrics and connect plant control systems with business systemsProvide ongoing maintenance support and see automation projects through completionAssist with project management and provide on-call support as neededWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent)2–4 years of experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing environmentsExperience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, drives, and HMI systemsAbility to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawingsStrong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skillsProficiency with Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPointWork EnvironmentThis role is based in an industrial manufacturing facility and involves exposure to machinery, electrical systems, temperature changes, and other typical plant conditions.
