Screen Printing Department Lead
National Ink and Stitch is seeking an experienced and motivated Screen Printing Department Lead / Manager to oversee and grow our screen printing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in their work, leads by example, and wants to play a key role in shaping and developing a growing department.The ideal candidate brings strong technical screen printing knowledge, automatic press experience, screen separation and film output expertise, attention to detail, and leadership skills—along with a desire to grow with the company and help build efficient systems, workflows, and a strong production team.Job OverviewAs the Screen Printing Department Lead / Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the screen printing department, including daily production, quality control, press maintenance, workflow management, and staff leadership. This role requires a balance of hands-on production work, technical expertise, and people leadership.You will play a significant role in managing day-to-day operations while helping to grow, improve, and develop our screen printing capabilities as the business expands.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate daily operations of the screen printing department to ensure efficient workflow and on-time job completionOperate and oversee automatic screen-printing presses, including setup, breakdown, and calibrationCreate, review, and manage screen separations and film output to ensure print-ready artworkMaintain high standards for print quality, registration, ink coverage, and color consistencyPerform and oversee routine press maintenance and troubleshootingManage production schedules, prioritize jobs, and adjust workflows as needed to meet deadlinesConduct quality control checks throughout the production processTrain, mentor, and support screen printing staff on best practices, safety procedures, and equipment useCollaborate with graphic designers and the sales team to ensure artwork, separations, and production align with customer expectationsOversee preparation of artwork when needed, including layout review and print-readiness using Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop or Corel DrawManage inventory of inks, screens, chemicals, emulsions, films, and machine suppliesMaintain a clean, organized, and efficient departmentStay current on screen printing techniques, equipment, and industry trends to improve department performanceBe willing to do what it takes to get jobs completed during high-demand periodsRequired QualificationsScreen printing experience (required)Automatic press experience (required)Strong knowledge of screen separations and film creation/output (required)Previous leadership or management experience in a production or print environmentStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityExperience with press setup, maintenance, and troubleshootingAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectivelyStrong communication and organizational skillsDependable, accountable, and self-motivatedPreferred / Bonus SkillsProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and/or Corel DrawKnowledge of color theory, halftones, trapping, and print production standardsWhat We’re Looking ForA leader who takes pride in their work and the work of their teamA hands-on manager with a solution-based mindsetSomeone who leads by example and supports their teamA professional who wants to grow with the company and help develop this role and departmentStrong leadership qualities and ownership mentalityWhat We OfferCompetitive pay based on experienceA key leadership role with long-term growth potentialThe opportunity to help build and shape the screen printing departmentA collaborative, team-driven environmentStability with room for advancement as the company growsLocation:National Ink and Stitch7610 Meadow Run LaneOwings, MD 20736How to Apply:Please send your resume and brief work history to apply@nationalinkandstitch.comPay Range:$23-$25/hour
