Job Title: Diesel MechanicLocation: Metairie, Louisiana, United StatesEmployment Type: Full-TimeAbout the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic on behalf of one of our clients to support maintenance operations within a ready-mix division. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment, diesel and gasoline engines, and related mechanical systems to ensure reliable and safe operations.You will work closely with the maintenance team to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline enginesMaintain and repair heavy construction and automotive equipmentService ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and steering systemsRepair and maintain chassis, frames, and equipment bodiesPerform preventive maintenance including lubrication, tire, battery, brake, and valve servicingOperate tools and equipment such as hoists, jacks, power tools, gauges, and metersSupport shop operations including maintenance scheduling and spare parts inventoryMaintain accurate documentation of repairs, issues, and proceduresEnsure a clean, safe, and organized work environmentCommunicate effectively with supervisors and team membersAssist other mechanics as needed and collaborate in a team environmentAdhere to all health, safety, and environmental policiesQualificationsEducation:High School Diploma or equivalent preferredExperienceMinimum 3 years of relevant experience in diesel mechanicsORGraduate of a mechanics/technical school (heavy equipment, diesel engines, transmissions)Licenses & CertificationsValid driver’s license requiredClass A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferredSkills & CompetenciesStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic skillsBasic computer proficiencyGood verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills with ability to meet deadlinesAbility to work independently and in a team environmentPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsCapable of working long and flexible hours as neededProlonged standing on varied surfacesFrequent bending, stooping, and crawlingAbility to lift up to 100 lbs unassistedAdditional RequirementsMust adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of PPE, including respirators where requiredWhat We OfferCompetitive salary401(k) retirement savings options (pre-tax and Roth)Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insuranceHealth Savings Accounts (HSA) & Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Paid time off and paid holidaysPaid parental leaveEmployee wellness programsEducational assistance programsEmployee discounts and voluntary benefitsApply Now !
