Job SummaryPerform work as outlined on repair order with safety, efficiency and accuracy.Essential FunctionsPerform the 3 Cs (complaint, cause, correction)Perform work as outlined on repair order with safety, efficiency and accuracyDiagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair when authorizedCommunicate with the advisor and/or parts department to obtain needed partsSave and tag removed parts as required or requested by the insurance company, customer, or Parts Dept.Examine vehicle and notify manager and/or advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promisedRoad-test vehicles when requiredSupervise work of any apprentice technicians as assignedEnsure that customers cars are kept cleanKeep shop area neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership-owned tools at all timesUnderstand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastesPre-Hire RequirementsValid TX DL and acceptable driving record, acceptable background review and negative drug screenEducation and Experience RequiredHigh school diploma or the equivalentBasic math, reading and writing skillsMust be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written or oral diagrammatic formMust be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situationsStrong mental aptitudeStrong verbal communication skillsStrong personal initiativeAbility to operate a standard transmission vehicleAbility to use a computer and 10 key calculatorAbility to operate hand and power tools safelyExtensive knowledge of vehicle mechanical operationsGeneral mechanical skillsAptitude to retain new informationPhysical Requirements:Frequent standing, bending/stooping/squatting, climbing stairs/ladders, pushing/pulling, grasping/gripping, writing/typing, finger dexterity, driving/operating equipment, hearing, speaking ,vision (beyond arms length), working in confined spaces, able to lift 1-75lbsOccasionally climbing stairs/ladders, lying down, reaching above shoulders, able to lift 75-150+lbsPlease note: Tools are not furnished by the company. Employees are required to furnish their own.Working ConditionsThe employee will work indoors and outdoors in an auto shop environment.Will be frequently rotating equipment, vehicles, elevators, lifts, tow-lines, etc.Will be exposed to fumes, chemicals, solvents, caustics, etc.Will be exposed to extreme temperatures.
