Full Stack Developer

Eligible work locations: Rockville, MD | McLean, VA | New York, NY | New Jersey (NJ)About the Role• We're looking for a Full Stack Developer to join an engineering team, backfilling an existing position. The team supports a large-scale application used by financial firms to submit regulatory financial data, working across multiple projects with regular stakeholder meetings.• This is a hands-on role spanning UI, backend, DevOps, security remediation, and automated testing. You'll be working on a business-critical application, so we value engineers who are thoughtful about the broader impact of every change.What You'll Do:• Build and maintain features across the full stack: front end, backend, DevOps, and testing.• Develop responsive, high-quality front-end interfaces using Angular, React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.• Build and maintain Java backend services.• Support application deployments and development processes as part of day-to-day DevOps work.• Address security and remediation tickets.• Write and maintain automated tests, keeping appropriate unit-test coverage in place.• Support the team's ongoing migration of components to GitLab.Core Technical Skills:• Strong full-stack development experience, with front-end depth being especially important.• Front-end: Angular, React, JavaScript, TypeScript.• Strong Java backend development experience.• DevOps experience supporting deployments and development workflows.• Experience resolving security and remediation tickets.• Strong test automation experience, including maintaining unit-test coverage.• Experience with GitLab.AI and Engineering Approach:• Writing strong prompts and validating AI-generated output.• Making sure requirements and technical considerations aren't missed.• Understanding the architecture and application well enough to judge the broader impact of a change.• Thinking beyond just finishing the code: dependencies, downstream effects, security, testing, and overall system quality.Ideal Candidate Profile:• Self-motivated and self-driven, able to take ownership without being nudged or spoon-fed.• Highly detail-oriented and quality-focused.• Cautious and thoughtful when changing a large, business-critical application.• Owns work end-to-end and stays transparent about progress, risks, issues, and decisions.• Thinks ahead: What could this change impact? What might we be missing? Is everything covered?• Balances delivery speed with quality, security, testing, and system stability.• Understands the whole system rather than focusing narrowly on assigned code.Nice to Have:• AWS certifications.• GenAI / AI-related certifications.Location, Interview and Work Model:• Residency: Candidates must be current residents of one of the following states: DC, VA, MD, NY, or NJ.• Assessment: Must be able to complete a skills assessment.• Interview: Must be able to attend an in-person, face-to-face interview.• Work model: Hybrid, 3 days per week on-site.
