Controls Engineering Manager - Dallas, TX

Career Strategy Consultants is seeking a Controls Engineering Manager for a growing organization in the Dallas, TX area. This role will lead a team of controls engineers responsible for delivering high-quality automation and control system solutions. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a generous base salary, bonus incentive, and lucrative benefits package.This is a hands-on leadership role focused on technical oversight, team development, and execution of complex projects across industrial and manufacturing environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing controls engineering teamEstablish KPIs, performance goals, and development plansConduct performance reviews and manage team growth and staffingProject ExecutionOversee multiple projects from concept through commissioningEnsure delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budgetAllocate resources effectively across projectsResolve complex technical and system-level challengesTechnical OversightReview and approve control system designs, programming, and documentationOversee PLC/HMI architecture, sequences of operation, and control narrativesProvide advanced troubleshooting and system integration guidanceEnsure designs meet safety, regulatory, and client requirementsStandards & InnovationDevelop and maintain programming standards, templates, and reusable codeEstablish HMI standards (layout, alarms, trends, navigation)Drive continuous improvement in automation performance and efficiencyStay current with emerging technologies and industry trendsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, and sales teamsCommunicate project status and technical challenges to stakeholdersEnsure alignment across departments and project teamsQuality & ComplianceOversee quality control processes and participate in design reviewsConduct audits to ensure reliability and performance standardsEnsure compliance with applicable codes and standardsTraining & DevelopmentProvide training on programming platforms, tools, and best practicesPromote knowledge-sharing and technical development across the teamQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or related field6+ years of controls engineering experience2+ years in a leadership or management roleExperience with platforms such as Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, Ignition, EcoStruxureKnowledge of programming languages (ladder logic, structured text, Python, etc.)Experience with industrial communication protocols (MQTT, Modbus TCP/IP, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP)Strong understanding of automation systems and electrical controlsExcellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
