Overviewmaman is a French bakery, café and leading lifestyle brand founded in 2014. Locations span across North America and Canada. Inspired by family traditions and high-quality ingredients, maman offers baked goods (including their nutty chocolate chip cookie), coffee, fresh breakfast, and lunch options from salads and sandwiches to quiches. maman also hosts intimate events and partners with brands for partnerships and activations.We’re looking for a passionate General Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about food and beverages, and welcoming customers. You have experience in successfully managing a team, fostering unity, and working toward daily goals. You will provide friendly, helpful, and responsive service to guests and speak authentically about our menu and brand. You will be based at any maman location; please indicate your preference during the interview process.What you’ll doReport directly to your regional director and culinary director, and communicate effectively regarding team and restaurant needsBe accountable for profitability by growing sales and controlling cost of goods and labor costsUnderstand your restaurant’s financial results and motivate your team to performIdentify areas of excess cost and collaborate with the Maman office to maximize profitability without compromising guest experienceMake decisions that balance guest happiness, team well-being, and profitabilityLead a team of front of house and back of house staff (approximately 25 people)Allocate 75% of time on the floor completing tasks with the team and 25% on scheduling, ordering, inventory, emailing and reporting with the back officeReview daily time punches and address time clock issues via coaching or documentationWork with the Maman office to develop and implement SOPs, menu launches, marketing initiatives, events, and trainingFollow performance review documents and lead monthly performance reviews for all team membersIdentify staffing needs and communicate with Regional DirectorsProvide ongoing training and development for current staff, including management in FOH & BOHEnsure new hires are onboarded in Harri prior to their first training shiftEnsure food and beverage products are prepared and served according to Maman’s recipes, portioning, and plating standardsTake ownership of cafe space aestheticsFoster return visits and build relationships with regular guests through warm hospitality and serviceInvestigate and resolve guest concernsWhat we’re looking forMinimum 3 years leadership experienceFamiliarity with Toast, Harri, and third-party delivery appsOwnership of your team, restaurant, and guest experienceGood judgment on when to solve problems independently and when to escalateCommitment to food safety and a valid food handler’s certificateFlexible schedule including weekends, holidays, events, and occasional emergenciesHospitality passion and awareness of industry trendsQuality, aesthetics and top-notch customer experience as non-negotiablesAbility to make people feel good and lead by exampleAbility to learn quickly and adapt to maman’s cultureSmart, ego-free, upbeat, friendly, and efficiency-orientedPositive attitude and sense of humor under pressureWhat’s in it for youJoin a fast-growing company building a national brandCompetitive salary, healthcare, and benefits2 weeks PTO and healthcare benefitsTraining to help you settle in and opportunities to broaden your skill setGrowth opportunities and internal mobility when possibleKeep in mind that maman is growing and developing daily.
