DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional facility environment through routine custodial duties and basic building maintenance tasks. This position supports daily operations of multiple client stores/locations based in and around the Franklin Park, IL area (within approximately a 15-mile radius) by performing cleaning services, and facility upkeep while ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform weekly cleaning and sanitation of offices, restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, floors, parking lots, and common areas.Clean and sanitize restrooms, including floors, walls, fixtures, sinks, countertops, urinals, partitions, mirrors, baby changing stations, and water fountains.Clean and maintain a variety of flooring surfaces, including vinyl composite tile (VCT), luxury vinyl tile (LVT), polished concrete, ceramic, porcelain, carpet, and terrazzo.Apply floor finishes through waxing, recoating, or other approved methods, as assigned.Perform parking lot cleaning, including sweeping, power blowing, and collecting and disposing of debris; ensure all litter is removed.Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust assigned areas.Restock restroom and janitorial supplies as needed.Operate and maintain custodial equipment and cleaning tools safely and properly, including floor cleaning machines.Follow established health, safety, and cleaning procedures.Report major maintenance issues and repair needs to management promptly.Maintain organized janitorial closets and maintenance storage areas.Perform other duties as assigned.CompetenciesAttention to Detail: Maintains high cleanliness standards and identifies maintenance or safety issues proactivelyReliability: Demonstrates consistent attendance, punctuality, and accountability in completing assigned tasksTime Management: Effectively prioritizes and completes daily responsibilities within scheduled timeframesProblem Solving: Addresses minor maintenance issues independently and escalates larger concerns appropriatelySafety Awareness: Follows all safety procedures, proper chemical handling practices, and workplace regulationsCommunication: Communicates professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and facility occupants regarding needs or issuesAdaptability: Adjusts to changing priorities, schedules, and facility needs as requiredTeamwork: Works collaboratively with staff and supports overall facility operations when neededInitiative: Takes proactive steps to maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency without constant supervisionBenefitsMedicalDentalVisionEAPSTD/LTDBasic Life and AD&DVoluntary LifeSupplemental: Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital IndemnityCell Phone Stipend401(k)Paid Time OffPaid HolidaysWatterson is an Equal Employment Opportunity and E-Verify employer.Disclaimer: This job description is intended to outline the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this role.
