Senior Backend Engineer (NestJS ➝ Java Migration)We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to lead the migration of our existing NestJS services to a Java-based microservices architecture.In this role, you’ll own the entire migration lifecycle—from design and planning to backend development, execution, and delivery—ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption to business-critical services.Location: Newark, CaliforniaType: Contract to HireWork Authorization: GC / EAD / US citizen. No C2C What You’ll DoLead the end-to-end migration of NestJS (TypeScript) services into scalable Java microservices (Spring Boot).Design and implement microservices architecture with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance optimization.Set best practices for communication, data management, and event-driven architecture (Kafka, MongoDB change streams).Write comprehensive tests and documentation to ensure maintainability and long-term success.Diagnose and resolve performance, concurrency, and distributed system issues during migration.What We’re Looking ForNestJS & TypeScript Expertise (3–4+ years) – deep understanding of decorators, module architecture, and design patterns.Java & Microservices Mastery (10+ years) – Spring Boot, concurrency, multi-threading, distributed systems, REST, messaging, performance tuning.Proven track record in event-driven systems (Kafka, MongoDB change streams).Strong ability to work independently and take full ownership of technical delivery.Excellent communication and documentation skills.Nice to HaveExperience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with Spring Cloud microservices (Eureka, Config Server, etc.).Background in automotive or supply chain tech (telemetry, vehicle diagnostics).If you’re passionate about solving complex backend challenges and want to own a high-impact migration project, we’d love to connect!Apply now or message me directly for details - team@impinno.ai
