Payroll Specialist (On‐Site | Temp‐to‐Hire)Location: McClellan, CA Pay Rate: $27–$31 per hour Employment Type: Full‐Time, Temp‐to‐Hire Work Schedule: 100% On‐SitePosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail‐oriented Payroll Specialist to join our client's team in McClellan, CA. This is a temp‐to‐hire opportunity for a payroll professional who can manage end‐to‐end payroll processing with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. The ideal candidate has at least three years of payroll experience, with construction industry exposure strongly preferred. This position is fully on‐site.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess full‐cycle payroll on a regular schedule, ensuring accuracy and timelinessReview, verify, and enter employee timecards, including overtime, job costing, and multiple pay ratesEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulationsCalculate and process payroll deductions, garnishments, benefits, and taxesPrepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year‐end)Reconcile payroll registers, payroll tax reports, and general ledger postingsMaintain accurate payroll records and employee data, ensuring confidentiality at all timesRespond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies promptlyCoordinate with HR and accounting regarding new hires, terminations, wage changes, and benefits updatesSupport audits and provide payroll documentation as requestedAssist with workers' compensation reporting and union reporting, if applicableContribute to process improvements and ensure adherence to internal controlsPerform other payroll and administrative duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent (required)Minimum of 3 years of hands‐on payroll processing experience (required)Payroll experience in a construction environment is strongly preferred, including familiarity with job costing, prevailing wage, and multi‐rate pay structuresSolid knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirementsExperience working with payroll systems and timekeeping softwareStrong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem‐solving skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretionStrong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teamsReliable and able to work 100% on‐site in McClellan, CACompensation & Benefits$27–$31 per hour, based on experienceTemp‐to‐hire opportunity with potential for long‐term employmentStable, on‐site work environmentOpportunity to grow within the organizationAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
