Flex Pet Care Contractor (Afternoons & Weekends)

We are expanding carefully and are seeking dependable contractors who want flexible work within a structured system, not casual gig work. About the Role This role is best suited for someone who wants clear expectations, priority access to bookings, and long-term consistency. We are hiring multiple contractors to strengthen coverage and reliability as demand grows. Availability Needs (Read Carefully) We are seeking contractors who can commit to reliable, recurring availability within specific time windows. Priority coverage needs: Weekday afternoons: 12:00pm–4:00pm Weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) Additional availability that is helpful but not required: Weekday mornings (7:00am–11:00am) Weekday evenings (4:00pm–8:00pm) Contractors are expected to: Commit to at least two standing availability blocks Maintain those blocks on an ongoing basis Communicate planned time off in advance This role is not a fit for someone whose availability changes frequently or who prefers to opt in/out week to week. Responsibilities Provide in-home care for dogs and cats, including: Drop-in visits Walks Extended or overnight care (availability-based) Follow Salty Paws’ care standards, visit protocols, and client instructions Communicate clearly before, during, and after visits using our scheduling platform Maintain accurate visit notes and updates Represent the Salty Paws brand professionally in client homes Communicate scheduling conflicts or issues promptly Scheduling & Coordination Salty Paws Co. handles all client intake, pricing, billing, and scheduling Contractors are expected to: Keep availability up to date Respond promptly to booking requests Respect confirmed schedules As the company grows, contractors may be asked to assist with light schedule coordination, such as confirming coverage or flagging gaps (not full scheduling responsibility) Compensation Competitive per-service pay Holiday premium pay only (federal holidays and designated peak periods) Contractors who demonstrate reliability and consistent availability may qualify for: Priority booking access A minimum monthly pay floor after an onboarding period Requirements Must be 21 years or older Proven pet care experience (professional or long-term personal) Extremely reliable and punctual Comfortable following defined processes and standards Clear communicator (text/app-based) Reliable transportation Smartphone Ability to pass a background check Legally eligible to work as an independent contractor (1099) This Role Is NOT a Fit If You: Want to bring your own clients under our brand Prefer total autonomy with no availability commitments Dislike structure, checklists, or communication requirements Frequently cancel or change availability last minute Are looking for a short-term or casual side gig Hiring Process 1.
