Position Summary
Misericordia University is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science on a part-time, semester-by-semester basis. We welcome dedicated educators who are committed to student learning, professional excellence, and supporting our mission of providing a values-based education in the Mercy tradition.
Responsibilities
Adjunct faculty may be assigned lecture or lab courses in areas such as
Exercise Physiology
Kinesiology & Biomechanics
Strength and Conditioning
Anatomy & Physiology (with lab, as appropriate)
Motor Behavior / Motor Learning
Fitness Assessment & Exercise Prescription
Health Promotion & Wellness
Additional responsibilities include
Preparing course materials, syllabi, assessments, and lab activities aligned with departmental standards
Teaching in face-to-face or hybrid modalities, depending on departmental need
Providing timely, formative, and summative feedback to students
Maintaining accurate academic records, attendance, and grades
Supporting an inclusive, student-centered learning environment
Collaborating with program faculty to ensure curricular consistency and accreditation standards
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a closely related field
Demonstrated content knowledge in assigned teaching areas
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to the mission and values of Misericordia University
Preferred Qualifications
Collegiate teaching experience (lecture and/or lab)
Relevant clinical or professional experience in exercise science, fitness, or health-related fields
Professional certifications (e.g., ACSM-EP, ACSM-CEP, NSCA-CSCS, NASM, ACE)
Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and technology-enhanced instruction
Experience supervising undergraduate research or applied projects
